Oddly enjoyable
Tito-811 June 1999
I'm not entirely sure why I liked this German short, but somehow, it kept me interested. There was just something about the film that was enjoyable, even though I can't quite say what. The basic storyline is actually fairly standard, perhaps it's just that it has a couple of twists that help to make the film seem more fresh. The film is also helped by the fact that all of the leads give good performances, and of course, this includes the elephant.

All in all, a beautiful short

I started to watch this one as the summary in the DVD box seemed intriguing. As I started to watch it, admittedly, the story was probably not that hard to pick, but there was a certain charm to the leads that made you really want to see them interact with each other.

Ramon, the elephant trainer, was such a kindly character and Peter Luppa played him so well that it was very easy to see the strong man within the short dwarf. Lilly, the beautiful Countess with the philandering husband, clearly saw the same thing. A woman twice his size, it was clear that she looked to him as a man to protect her.

The ending was beautiful. The smile on Lilly's face when she saw Ramon again made me feel all warm inside as I could only imagine that she left her horrid husband (and her title) to raise their daughter on her own until it was time to reveal her to him. At least, that's what I hoped had happened.

I just really enjoyed it all round. It was not like the rest of the Erotic Tales that I had seen, it actually seemed quite 'normal', even with the elephant.
