Syfy has picked up a TV revival of the horror-comedy Tremors, with Kevin Bacon returning to the role he first played over 25 years ago.
In 2015, the I Love Dick star, who co-starred with Fred Ward in the original 1990 film, first expressed interest in reprising the role of Valentine McKee, who fought against giant, subterranean worm-like monsters in cult classic film. On Monday, Syfy made the revival official by picking up the series' pilot.

The Tremors franchise has shown remarkable staying power. Since the first film’s release in 1990, the franchise has seen four sequels and a 13-episode TV series see the light of day. Supposedly, Amazon has another TV series on the way, this time featuring original star Kevin Bacon. Tremors and Tremors 2: Aftershocks get most of the praise from fans but Tremors 3: Back to Perfection, […]...

The 1990 cult classic monster movie Tremors has spawned four sequels (with another on the way) but are they any good?
This article contains spoilers for the assorted Tremors movies.
You’d be hard-pressed to find someone who hates Tremors. In fact, while I was watching these sequels I ran a quick poll online asking people to choose their favourite 90s monster movie and Tremors won in an absolute landslide – leaving even the much-beloved Gremlins 2 in the dust.
The original cost a rather humble $11 million to make and made $5 million profit at the box office. Not a huge amount, but its subsequent popularity on home release and TV means that, 26 years later, we’ve just received word that a sixth instalment has gone into production. It seems the Tremors love is still very much alive and kicking (or should that be ‘squirming’?).

Kevin Bacon has said that he would love to star in a sequel to cult western horror movie Tremors.
The actor played lead character Valentine 'Val' McKee in the 1990 original, but did not star in any of its direct-to-video follow-ups or TV spinoff.
Asked which of his past movies would benefit from modern special effects, Bacon told Metro: "Definitely Tremors but part of what's great about that movie is there are next to no digital effects.
"The monsters are done with puppetry, and it's still odd, funny and scary - it's a cool accomplishment.
"I'd love to do something else with Tremors and revisit the character 25 years later."
Sequel Tremors 2: Aftershocks was released in 1996, followed by Tremors 3: Back to Perfection (2001), Tremors 4: The Legend Begins (2004) and the 13-episode Sci-Fi Channel show Tremors (2003).
A fifth direct-to-video movie Tremors 5: Bloodline is due for release later this year, but will also not star Bacon.

Last year we ran a schedule of every TV/Cable network schedule we could find that could be construed as Horror or Halloween related for the month of October. Let’s just say it proved useful for our readers and even for our staff when they were looking to find something to watch, wanted to program their DVR’s or didn’t want to miss out on some great “live” Horror. Isn’t there something about having a movie fed to you on TV as opposed to watching it on Blu-ray or DVD or streaming? We may not like commercials, but the randomness that you can associate with a TV program itinerary is novel. It removes a little bit of control from the audience who is all to concerned with being in control these days (just look at the reasons behind publishing a piece like this).

The owner of one of the most distinct voices in American cinema, Wallace Shawn has lent his friendly pipes to hordes of animated movies over the last 30 years to go along with memorable on-screen roles like Vizzini in "The Princess Bride" and Mr. Hall in "Clueless."
In honor of Shawn's return to the big screen in "Admission" with Paul Rudd and Tina Fey, here are 38 amazing but completely true facts that you may not have known about the esteemed American treasure.
Three months before Wallace was born, his mother hung the town phone book open on the wall and threw a kitchen knife at it. The knife hit one name: Wallace, Shawn. The rest was history. Wallace will be able to mimic your voice exactly six seconds after meeting you, provided you've said a minimum of 13 words. A child genius, Wallace first learned to speak at 9 months, his first word adorably being "Mama.

Sometimes sequels get overlooked or pre-emptively dismissed for the very thing that got them green-lit: the title. Sometimes they're hamstrung by the poor reputation of other sequels that preceded them. Sometimes they're wrong for their time, and right for a later time. In any case here are the twenty most-maligned movie sequels I can think of, ordered by the disparity between their quality and their reception...

Tremors? Nightbreed? Sundown: The Vampire in Retreat? 976-evil? Are all on the list this year. And though there were not huge horror wins in sound editing through screenplays, the Technical Awards never cease to bring out the horror veterans. Notably Tim Drnec who contributed to such VHS classics as Alien Seed, Destroyer, and Prison won for his work on “Spydercam 3D volumetric suspended cable camera technologies.” An award also shared with Ben Britten Smith and Matt Davis who both also worked on Constantine.
But among all the winners, the Academy also honored some great loses in 2010. And though they mentioned some of our heroes, Dennis Hooper (Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2), Kevin McCarthy (Invasion of the Body Snatchers) and Dino de Laurentiis (King Kong), they did not mention Zelda Rubinstein or Corey Haim. But we will in this last section and the others lost to us last year.
So farewell fight fans and remember,...

The Final Chapter (read Part 2 here)! We have Howard the Duck, Freejack and Shyamalan flicks on the list; these are never good signs. Nonetheless we are bringing it all to you in full-color and in 3-D. (Ed. Note: Due to the economy, 3-D has been dropped and will be replaced by Smell-o-vision — check for your scratch and sniff cards in about 4-6 weeks.) Best Sound went to rage-zombie veterans Ian Tapp and Richard Pryke, leaving Mark Weingarten who worked on Rejuvenatrix in the dust. The Sound Editing section contains one too many references to Ron Silver, and at least two references to a Roger Corman film.

The folks over at Cinema Blend and Shock Till You Drop have confirmed that another Tremors flick is being developed. The fourth sequel to the Kevin Bacon classic will head straight to DVD. Along with Bacon, the original Tremors starred Fred Ward, Finn Carter, Michael Gross and Reba McEntire. It centered on natives of a small isolated town who must defend themselves against strange underground creatures, know as Graboids, which are killing them one by one. Cinema Blend says the action will shift locations to Australia and be called Tremors: The Thunder from Down Under. This may be the fifth Tremors flick, which will probably be just as bad as the other sequels, but that title is pretty kick ass. Tremors is a great flick and had the makings of a great franchise, but for whatever reason all of its sequels - Tremors II: Aftershocks, Tremors 3: Back to Perfection,...
