A Great German Action Movie even When You See for the Second Time
claudio_carvalho19 January 2014
In Russia, three Russian assassins break in a laboratory and steel a load of Cesium. In Berlin, the cab-driver Ella (Katja Riemann) is robbed by a criminal but a mysterious man hits the guy and gives her money back. Ella offers a ride to him to thank what he did for her and she learns that he is the Russian Aleksej (Hannes Jaenicke). Ella shares a flat with her disloyal friend Carmen (Daniela Lunkewitz) and has debts because she bought joiner tools and machines for her.

On the next morning, she decides to drive to Aleksej's hotel and take him in sightseeing to make money. Then they decide to have dinner and Aleksej proposes to marry her. In return, he would give one hundred thousand Deutschmarks in order to stay in Germany. Ella promises to give her answer on the next day.

Soon the three Russian killers come to Germany to negotiate the Cesium with the Iraqis and their leader Jewgenij (Heinz Hoenig) is the older brother of Aleksej and a powerful lord of the Russian Mafia. Aleksej has planned to steal the money from his brother. Without knowing Aleksej's intentions, Ella is involved in the dangerous situation and chased by Jewgenij and his two men.

"Nur aus Liebe" is a great German action movie even when you see it for the second time. I saw this movie on 18 January 2001 for the first time on VHS and today I have decided to see it again for reassessment. The plot is entertaining, with great performances, and the only problem is that the VHS is dubbed in English. Katja Riemann and Hannes Jaenicke show excellent chemistry and the conclusion is funny with the decision of the couple running away to Rio. My vote is eight.

Only of love, I will kill

After the comedies in the reunificated Germany had been successful other movies could have been made. In Action Genre 'Die Sieger' (with Herbert Knaup, Hannes Jaennicke and Heinz Hoenig, 1994) and this movie have been realized. Jaennicke and Hoenig (Boot/Boat) show their talents waiting for Hollywood. For Till Schweiger, G. John, G. Otto and C-O. Rudolph (James Bond) had got their chances, both are waiting for it. Here the taxi-driver Mrs Riemann plays a role designed for herself and fulfilling it to the best, rational and wild. Hoenig plays the cool sadist like in many roles. Jaennicke can show his talent to seduce spectators. The plot is good and surprising, and is inviting to watch.
