Fritz Coleman, the face of weather forecasts on NBC4 Los Angeles for nearly 40 years, is retiring, the station said Wednesday. His last day on-air will be Friday, June 26.
Coleman, who works on the side as a stand-up comic, is known for mixing humor with his forecasts, as well as for his philanthropic work. Coleman joined NBC4 in 1982. For years, he worked alongside co-anchors Colleen Williams and Chuck Henry and Sports Anchor Fred Roggin, one of the longest-running news anchor teams in Los Angeles.
“After a year of planning his retirement, Coleman has decided to spend more time with his family, appreciate his good health, and dedicate more time to his comedy,” NBC4 said in a statement.
“This career has been a gift. To work in the greatest news operation in Southern California has been the greatest experience of my life,” said Coleman. “I have also had the opportunity of raising my children,...

Note: Do not read on if you have not yet seen Season 9, Episode 5 of ABC's "The Bachelorette."
Guten tag, readers. It's week five and you know what that means? ABC foots the bill for the entire show to fly somewhere overseas because "Fill In The Blank Country" is totally the best place to go when you're on a journey to find true love. Here's hoping Desiree can narrow down her search for Mr. Right in Munich. I'm sure there are several stereotypical German scenarios that she will have to maneuver in order to weed out the men who are not here for the right reasons. Let's take a look.
Beer Steins, Polka & Lederhosen ... Oh My!
Chris is the lucky suitor to land the first one-on-one and the date starts off with our love birds trying on Oktoberfest regalia in a local shop. I'm sure Chris will never live down the...

"Comedy Central Pop-Up Stand-Up" is all about surprising crowds with some of the most entertaining comics around, so consider me one of the lucky ones to catch Carlos Mencia on Dec. 5 at The Ice House in Pasadena. There were many clues posted online on who would be the surprise guest at The Ice House for the Dec 5th show at The Ice House in Pasadena. But who was it going to be? Well our friends at Comedy Central and Corona delivered with a top notch show with the headliner Carlos Mencia! At first you would of swore that it wasn't Carlos Mencia, the reason being is that he has recently lost 70 pounds which has drastically made his appearance change in a healthy way. Just coming off his "Carlos Mencia: New Territory," Mencia’s one-hour Comedy Central on Dec. 4th, Carlos took the gloves off and made fun of anything and everyone.

Ice House Detroit raises awareness of the housing crisis there by turning a foreclosed house into a giant ice cube.
As cramped as they sometimes feel, cities can be full of empty space, especially these days as houses foreclose and construction sites stall. What to do with those empty lots has been a hot topic these days: San Francisco groups like Local Code and Hayes Valley Farm propose re-greening, spurred by city legislation encouraging developers to keep unused lots active. In New York, construction sites are becoming art projects. Chicago's Pop-Up Art Loop puts galleries in empty storefronts.
But what about Detroit? With one of the highest foreclosure rates in the country, Detroit is full of thousands of empty houses. Where some see blight, though, others see a canvas. John Hantz is proposing farms. Design99 is turning houses into art projects. And two New Yorkers are making a popsicle.

Texan Jeff Dunham was a hit at the summer TCA's, poking a big stick at the TV Critics assembled to hear all about his new Comedy Central series. .As I drove here today,. Dunham started his TCA presentation, .I realized I was going past the comedy club here in Pasadena called The Ice House, and it was there at The Ice House in 1990 that I did my ninth audition for .The Tonight Show. and was booked to do .The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. for the first of four times. And if I had known standing there in that parking lot in 1990 that I would be here at this time doing this for Comedy Central, I would...
