Salman&Karisma
espiritlibre29 March 2006
The love these two together! They are the perfect on-screen couple. Karisma is so cute. Salman is really funny in both roles. The songs are fun. I still remember the songs, they fit in perfectly with the entire movie. Another perfect example why the 90s were the best time for movies. Case in point: Karisma and Salman both could possible act together in for years and years to come. I would to see the longevity of these two, they work really well together. Karisma should come back to the screen in 2-4 yrs. I am glad that she had the maturity to get married at the age she did, smart move. Karisma's acting is very much based on the love of the craft...I remember the Karisma poster I had when Prem Quadi came out. I think she was the first newcomer who worked with a no name and did not use industry connections. Some of the newer girls look older...Which goes to show you that age is just a number. Karisma could easily play a 16yr old again. Karisma has single-handedly revolutionized Indian Cinema. Now I know why all my friends and I liked her back then...when Indian cinema was not Bollywood. I cannot believe the terms: Lollywood, Tollywood, Kollywood and the like. I do not see British, Spanish, Italian, Finnish filmmakers comparing the too. There is no comparison. Art is art the canvas and paint quality is up to the artist. Interpretation and perception is left to us...

Twin Dragons
silvan-desouza12 August 2014
Warning: Spoilers
David Dhawan is known for lifting stories from old films,Tamil films JUDWAA was a remake of Telugu film Hello Brother(1994) which was similar to Twin Dragons starring Jackie Chan. JUDWAA is an almost rip off of Hello Brother but yet it's funny. The film was Salman's first film with DD and also first film to have him in a double role. The film is funny in parts, Especially the confusion regarding both the Salmans, At times there is no continuity while at times the film is too loud and overdone yet it works well keeping in mind it's time. Salman and Karisma love story starts with an attempted robbery scene which involves a butt spanking scene, where Salman spanks Karisma which goes on throughout the film(LUCKY SALMAN!!!)

Direction is decent, though the film is a remake Music was a big hit, Tan Tana Tan, Oonchi Hai Building and all songs are superb though their placements are eratic also the choreography is at times too crude.

Salman Khan plays both roles superbly, be it Tapori Raja or Dignified Prem, though his voice irritates at times, this was one of his first comedies after AAA. Karisma hardly gets scope to act but pairs well with Salman. Rambha(voice dubbed by Tabu) is okay Kader Khan is funny,Tiku Talsania too is good,Dalip Tahil is good too Reema Lagoo is as usual, Mukesh Rishi repeats his villainy, Ishrat Ali is good, Shakti Kapoor repeats his Raja Babu act and is funny,Anupam Kher overdoes, Satish Shah is good, Bindu is as usual.

Timepass.
ChiBron25 November 2004
Judwaa is nothing awesome, just a good time-pass flick meant to be watched when u've nothing else to do on a rainy(or snowy in my case) day. Salman Khan plays a double role here(judwa bros separated at birth) - one obviously grows up to be a 'chaalu sadak chap' with a good heart, and the other is a straight fwd. music star('bholu raam') who lacks his other brother's balls. Salman's task is to be funny here, and considering comedy has always been his strong suit(well, till abt 1999. He lost his mind after that); he naturally does a good job at portraying both characters. Among the ladies both Rambha and Karishma do a good job of showing off their anatomies in song picturisations. The music is catchy and blends in perfectly with the storyline. Anupam Kher and Satish Shah as the silly but cute cops are hilarious.

Judwaa on the whole is basically a light hearted comedy featuring actors who are proved comedians. I would give it a decent 7/10.

Judwaa- Salman's Second Coming
atifkhan00731 August 2001
Judwaa directed by Salman Khan was released on Feb 13, 1997. I was there in India at that time. The film went on to do well at the box-office reportedly bringing in 2.1 crores rupees per territory. In many ways Judwaa gave Salman a second shot at super stardom. Before Judwaa there was Hum Aapke Hain Koun but that did more for Madhuri Dixit then Salman Khan. Before Judwaa Salman had done a number of films that failed miserably at the box office and cast a shadow over his career but Judwaa changed all that.

Judwaa is Salman Khan's first film in which he has done two roles. He is also the first among his contemporaries Amir and Shah Rukh. The plot is quiet simple. Two twin borthers separated at birth reunite after a chain of hillarious events. Both the twins can "feel" one another.

Salman has shown considerable flair for comedy in this film. The credit must also go to the director David Dhawan. Incidently Mr. Dhawan has been after Salman to do a film for him. The two later collaborated on another super hit Biwi No1.

The music for Judwaa is by Anu Malik. The style and the numbers definitely suit Salman's personality. The two heroines are simply gorgeous to look at but Rambha could use a few acting lessons.

Judwaa is fun film to watch though the plot is very similiar to a Jackie Chan movie Twin Brothers and loosely adopted from the telgu hit Hello Brother starring Nagarjuna. This movie will be most enjoyable to Salman Khan Fan.

Movie belongs to Salman
shivakumarvishwa5 July 2008
Judwaa is a plant surprise.Direction is not bad.Script is good.Story is good.It opens when a lady gives birth to twins. When they are born the nurse says that one has a bandage.Soon they get separated. One is with them. The other is in a railway track and has no one.The twist in the tale is whenever one of the child does something like fighting, kissing or eating the other twin does the same. .Cinematography is pleasant.Songs are loud and forgettable.Chereography is terrible. Background score was irritating.Anupham Kher and Satish Shah were very much annoying and could have been deleted.Karishma delivers a dreadful performance as Mala.Kader was annoying. The lady which played Rajas sister was barley wasted. The man which played Tiger was very irritating.Rambha was okay but acted better than Karishma. The movie belongs to Salman who gives a great perfromance wven though he is in his regular overacting self he has done well. The movie is a watch but just forward the songs

Likable movie, but just found out that it is another copy
manojtjain10 October 2009
I love the comedy in this movie, even though some scenes are really Bollywood non-sense. But saw a Jackie Chan movie today - The Twin Towers, and boy oh boy, Judwaa is really inspired by The Twin Towers, if not just a copy. Salman is pretty good, but some of his fight scenes don't look real at all. At least Jackie looks like he can fight. Shakti Kapoor is funny. Karishma & Rambha just do their job by dancing around. Nice movie for Salman lovers though since there is double-dose of him. Sadly, another likable movie that is not a Bollywood original. But I would surely watch Judwaa for its funny scenes. And oh ya, how could I forget. If you want to hear Anu Malik's funny voice singing some really funny lyrics, this is the movie - just listen to Oonchi Hain Building, Lift Teri Band Hai :D.

Funny in parts, average entertainer
ajay_ramaseshan4 November 2012
I saw this movie a couple of days back. Its a good timepass movie. Salman Khan s comic timing is very good, and he plays the double roles very well a great act by him. Karishma Kapoor as Mala is also very good. Rambha was just okay, but you don't get to hear her voice in the movie. For some reason, her voice has been dubbed by I think Tabu. Satish Shah and Anupam Kher overact their comedy sometimes, making those scenes a little too slapstick and repetitive for my liking. The songs are also very catchy, especially Anu Malik's baritone in Unchi Hai Building or Tan Tana Tan.

I would recommend it to someone, who just wants a movie to chill out for a one time watch. Rent it out on DVD if you can, no need buy it because I feel you will not feel like watching this a second time. All in all, I would rate this 6/10.

Great Entertainer form the 90s
soumabhainforma5 April 2017
I miss this genre of movies from the 1990s which used to be pure entertainment. This is a remake/inspired from Jackie Chan's 'Twin Towers' but a good remake with all the masalas. Salman Khan was the show stealer along with Karishma Kapoor who shred her earlier image to don a more glamorous look in Judwaa. The songs were great and are still catchy after 20 years. Look forward to the sequel and hope Varun Dhawan doesn't disappoint.

Good Fun
GypsiB2 April 2017
Salman Khan plays twins (Raja and Prem) that were separated at birth. Prem is raised by his parents in America, and becomes a singer. Raja is raised as an orphan and becomes a thief. When Prem and his parents return to India, confusion abounds affecting the two men, their girlfriends (played by Karisma Kapoor and Rambha), the police, and even the local crime lord.

This is a silly film, but cute. The plot is predictable, but Khan's dual roles are enjoyable to watch. Some of the songs are catchy and most of the choreography is good as well. Overall, it's good fun, though not exceptional.

Childhood Nostalgia
beingrohanak26 May 2021
In childhood, whenever this movie used to come on TV, I never missed it. The way Salman Khan has portrayed the character of Prem and Raja on screen is damn good and it is very fun to watch. Salman Khan's chemistry with Karishma and Rambha is also worth to watch! And what to say about the dance numbers, they are classics.
