Too Much Implausibility For Me
SkreenMemReez11 October 2006
Warning: Spoilers
I had a difficult time getting through this movie in one sitting. I had it TiVo'd so I watched it in spurts. The problems that I had with it were three-fold: 1) the idea that a woman could simply hit her head on a kitchen cabinet and go through an amnestic state to that extent was implausible, 2) the unprofessional behavior of the psychiatrist, 3) the chronic anger of her husband.

With regard to the first issue, I just think that it would have been more plausible for her to have had this condition after the trauma of her car accident years earlier, rather than by simply cracking her head on her kitchen cabinet.

Secondly, I am really sick of seeing mental health providers depicted in an inappropriate manner. The psychiatrist takes it upon himself to sit with Meagan and her husband while out for the evening and casually spills-the-beans about confidential information contained in their sessions together --a major violation of psychotherapy that could have resulted in him losing his license to practice psychotherapy. (By the way, psychotherapy is not typically done by psychiatrists anymore. Psychiatry, in the last 30 or so years has focused on writing prescriptions. Psychologists are the docs who do psychotherapy nowdays.)

Lastly, Meagan's husband seemed chronically angry throughout her ordeal, so much so, that I found myself not wanting her to get back with him at all.

good if you have nothing else to do-

Warning: Spoilers
this is a run of the mill lifetime movie of the week type of thing. it stars Jacqueline smith who is OK in this. we start off the movie seeing her bang her head on a cupboard (which i've done b/f btw...)! so then she gets some kind of weird amnesia where she thinks she's 16 and forgets anything past that age.

the best part of the movie is seeing her act kind of goofy like a teen and my fav scene is her rocking out to the song "2 tickets to paradise". she does this a few times while she's painting (a long forgotten but loved hobby) and it's funny her transformation with her hair in a bushy pony tail, etc... she's a little awkward trying to act like a teen and that makes it amusing somehow. also the line she says, "how am i going to go to school like this?!!!" after she sees her middle aged appearance in the mirror is funny.

i guess this is the kind of movie that is bad but good in the sense that the bad acting and plot make it funny to watch. in the end you just want her to dump her boring husband and go to italy to paint! i'm like why are you staying there?!!!

A Satisfying Drama with Excellent Performances......
speedo683 April 2004
Having Sidney J. Furie as the director of the this film is probably the biggest surprise of this film. Furie, more famous in directing action blockbuster movies, managed the direction swellingly.

Although the story becomes tiring in the last quarter of the film, Jaclyn Smith manages to sustain the dramatic resonance of the film. Smith is a capable performer and when handle by good directors and good scripts, exudes excellence. This is probably her best performance of late.

The only thing is she really looks too beautiful for everyone. I think, she's not being appreciated with her acting talent that much because the camera loves her face so much, that you can't help adoring her "angelic sexy" look while watching the movie.

Warning: Spoilers
The story might stretch belief sometimes but that is the nature of fiction. In the end it is an entertaining film. The performances by the lead actors are all pretty decent and convincing; the story has a believable plot. Since this was apparently inspired by a true story it would be interesting to know what that was.

I think some of the other reviews are a little unfair. The husband isn't angry, just frustrated - as any man would be when the woman he loves can't remember him. The psychiatrist should perhaps be a psychologist and isn't as ethical as he should be, then again he finds himself falling in love so he could perhaps be excused.
