Robert Frank's One Take One Hour video for French TV
bookstreet199727 March 2007
Commissioned by French television, Robert Frank shot one hour of video footage using many of his regulars: Peter Orlovsky (Pull My Daisy, Me and My Brother), Kevin O'Connor (Candy Mountain), Taylor Mead, Bill Rice, Tom Jarmusch and a host of first-timers. The result is a part scripted but mostly improv ramble through the Lower East Side and downtown Manhattan, in one take. 1990s villagers will recognize many landmarks close to Robert Frank's orbit around Bleecker Street and the Bowery such as Angelika Film Center, Great Jones Diner, & CBGB to name a few. An illustrated miniature book of the film's transcribed dialog entitled "One Hour" was published in 1992 by Raymond Foye at Hanuman Books in New York City, & was reprinted in a larger format in 2006 by DAP.
