Daphnis and Chloe review
JoeytheBrit16 April 2020
A young couple's love appears to be doomed when it is discovered he's the son of a king. Primitive Greek silent from 1931 featuring a good looking couple who have to be the world's most innocent lovers (they have the hots for one another but don't understand their feelings or how to act upon them). Slow and rather tedious, of value only as an historical artefact

Daring Warning: Spoilers
For all cinema aficionados this early Greek cinematograph movie is an absolute must. We cannot of course, at any rate, compare it with movies from the mighty Hollywood, but this nostalgically romantic Greek movie has, in its simplicity, a really heartfelt appeal that makes viewing quite rewarding. For a 1931 movie it is also considered quite daring as it is the first European film to contain nude scenes.

Highly recommended.
