In a way, Sørensen and Rasmussen is a strange film because it is about the struggle of reaching a position in society far higher than birth allows. The set on the other hand has nothing what so ever to do with what could have been a bitter social-realistic survey of the oppression of the lower social classes, then the film is set at a mansion like the regular fairy-tale stories of good vs. evil. The quarters of the lowest ranking stable-boy are nice and cosy as are those of the master and mistress. This film should be regarded as a memento to the dying absolutism - for only the will of the king changes the social rules. And the excellent performance of both leading actresses should be noted too.
