Evelyne is traveling to Scotland to meet her uncle Dan Douglas. Aboard the ship she befriends Berliner engineer Fred Keller, they fall in love and get married. Being an archetypal stingy Scottish, uncle Dan gives her a pearl necklace as wedding present, but doesn't tell her the truth, that the pearls are false. However, Fred soon finds the truth, but doesn't tell her wife. The newlyweds discover they have quite different tastes : Evelyne loves music, while Fred prefers cars, like beautiful Molly Barun. Maybe they would make a better match? In the middle of it all, the a real necklace appears, then gets lost, and the uncle will maneuver to get the real one and at the same time settle the couple's differences.
