I just discover that the voice I heard in the movie, was not Maria Adergast voice in spite of the fact that after the war she would have singing as well as acting career in Austria. As the Nazi's would call it , but not me,Jazz and swing as being Ni- and J- music, this is the historical facts, Thanks to the political correct censors at I.M.D.B. I can't express the words fully I protest this, tolerated on the radio. It was tolerated in big cities , record players and the movies, This movie has the Jazziest music for the title and it's even sang in the rehearsal of the theatrical music Revue, what the Nazis would call Degenerate but still tolerate it. This movie can be compared to the American m.g.m, Time square Lady,starring Virginia Bruce, Robert Taylor and Pinky Tomlinson, 1934. There is a little problem with the script. When Bernd , played by Albrecht Shoanhals, goes to the night club restaurant, his food is already prepared. What happen to the waiter? The attitude that Bernd and Ju Ju , played by Maria Adergast, about the murder is too casual. When Ju Ju and Bernd meet again neither barely touches their food at the restaurant in Berlin when she get's up Immediately and leaves. In spite of some weakness in the script it's still very entertaining The plot? Bernd Geldern, what a name, and his Partner George Derb Rock,played by Anton Pointner Architects, that reminds you of someone? are in New York for a big project on either a commuter train or a subway? German immigrant ,JuJu, played by Maria Angergast, wanted to be a Broadway star and ended up as a News paper girl. She works with fellow German immigrant, Hans Richter. But when she goes in the night club to sell papers, the orchestra ask her to sing a song. Well Like a Ziegfeld show ,she takes her paper boy out fit off and a costume dress appears.This is when Bernd discover her. But after the show a prize fight managers, who's at the table, Client name Sickie shows up drunk and tries to molest Ju Ju, Bernd defends her. The lights go out and go on again. The fighter dead. Berns and Ju Ju leaves New York, but casually as if nothing happens. While Bernd takes the ship, JuJu stows away. She's had it with New York and wants to try her country Germany, oh! oh!. Well she gets caught but some how get's out of it. Bernd is welcome by His actress singer girl friend,Maria played by Charlotte Susa, and the rest of the theater people including conductor Inger,played by Erich Fedlier, who played the heel in The Family Bucholz, 1944.When Ju Ju arrives at Berlin, She finds an apartment room owned by a Music professor, his daughters room, she just got married,played by Gustave Waldua. She goes to look for work in the theater, when she finds Bernds place, still celebrating his home coming, She fantasizes dancing with Bernd and looses her purse. Eventually they meet and she pretends that she has a career in the theater hiding the fact that she' still looking for work. Later Bernd finds out and surprises her with the fact that he is the nephew of the professor. There's a scene which both Bernd and Ju Ju are dancing at a Soda fountain where ,Tanzing Verbotin. They ignore the rule just as many real German citizens ignored the rule against jazz. Well by accident Ju Ju gets a part in the show which stars Bernds Girl friend Maria. She later finds out that he was engaged to her and was broken heart about it , Bernds gets mad at Maria for printing the lie about the engagement but I don't see the word Phelope Pheloped in the news paper ,meaning engaged. the police come to Berlin to talk to Bern about the murder of Sickie and is accused and sent to prison ,without it being shown, Low budget. The theatrical director talks to Ju Ju about it after he's sees it in the New paper. She explains the situation. The investigator find Bernd not guilty and let him go. He tries to look for Ju Ju, She just left at the sub way station for the train only to discover that the murderer, who killed Sickie, is right in front of her,Sickies manager? They struggle as he tries to push her out of the window but she presses the breaks to stop the train. Both Ju Ju and Bernd are together again. This subtle propaganda. Going back to Germany to finish the plot. Bernd is a successful architect w, which reflected Hitlers frustration of failing as one.
