A compulsive philanthropist

Warning: Spoilers
Vengos here is still in top form, this time running constantly helping out everyone possible while jeopardizing his love relationship as his philanthropy angers his potential mother in law. The film is hilarious with witty one-liners and plenty of pure Vengos slap stick, all very well timed, as he employs imaginative tricks to see his girl who is constantly guarded by her mother. As a bonus, there is also a guest appearance by Zambetas towards the end. Vengos has moments of superb acting especially when returning home to his mother after having given blood. Overall, one of my three top Vengos movies that keep you laughing till the end.

Unfunny

Warning: Spoilers
Veggos plays a salesman who is just too good for his own good. He's always going out on a limb to help strangers, often being greeted with indifference or, when things don't work out right, even hostility. Due to this flaw of his, his mother in law has in effect separated him from his wife, whom she keeps locked in the house like Rapunzel.

As always, Veggos is a frantic tornado of energy, never resting for a moment. The problem is, he's not funny. The script is not funny. The situations are not funny. The conflict is not interesting.

I am not sure if 1967 audiences actually laughed out loud at this. It is, at best, mildly amusing, just leaves you unmoved. A four-year-old child might actually laugh at this, but incessant antics do not equal comedy. For that, you need wit.

I suspect anyone who calls this movie funny most likely came of age during the film's period. I cannot imagine any other reason to claim this movie can bring you to audible laughter. A few weary smirks, at best.
