Warning: Spoilers
Often announced, partially shot, but never actually completed or released, "De Luxe Tour" was first set for production in 1956.

Based on the novel by Frederic Wakeman, a number of writers worked on the script, including Irwin Shaw.

Producer Darryl F. Zanuck hired Robert Jacks as associate producer, Richard Zanuck as production manager, Jack Smith as art director, Frank Donahue as cameraman and Paul Mantz to pilot the plane.

Donahue shot thousands of feet of 16mm DeLuxe Color, CinemaScope film in a two months trip over Europe, Africa and the Near East, under Darryl F. Zanuck's direction. This footage was edited down to 15 reels.

In late April 1959, Fox President Skouras announced that Darryl F. Zanuck's "De Luxe Tour" would be re-started and released in December 1959. But the partially completed movie stayed firmly in Fox's vaults where it remains to this very day - namely 6/15/2017!
