The Albert Préjean/Danielle Darrieux was a winner in the thirties ;both have plenty of go, of joie de vivre ,and even in the far-fetched (to put it mildly) screenplay ,they were able to pull it off with gusto.
This is the classic story of mistaken identities ;Bernard is an inspector of the sleeping cars and a brilliant inventor whose latest discovery is a carburetor which makes the car run much faster ; to seduce a would be countess -who is actually a commoner who's just won a slogan prize,a ride on the luxury train , Bernard passes himself off as Monsieur Bernard , a car manufacturer ,more interested in a show with beautiful girls than in his invention.
This is a cock and bull story ,but it works from start to finish : the true industrialist ends up in jail whereas the usurper checks into the luxury hotel of Nice town ;but the businessman's missus ,a cantankerous ugly jealous woman is to be reckoned with .
