- Some dialog changes and cuts for violence were made for the 1995 dub of the film released by KidMark.
- Funimation produced three English dubs: two with a Vancouver-based voice cast in 1995 (the initial version of this dub utilized the character names from the previous dub from 1989 (e.g., Goku was Zero, Yamcha was Zedaki, etc.; this was produced as a test, and was very obscure) produced by Intersound for Harmony Gold), and one produced in-house in 2010 with their own local pool of voice actors.
- In the late 1980s, Harmony Gold made an edited version of this movie, with several characters redubbed. It was part of a movie that aired on TV, simply titled Dragon Ball (1989).
- The released version of the Canadian dub from 1995 added a scene from the second episode of the series (The Emperor's Quest (1995)), hence why Bulma has two different voice actresses.
