A prolific TV character actor, voiceover artist, and one of the tallest performers in Hollywood has passed away. As confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter, Richard Moll, known by most as the tall, bald bailiff Aristotle Nostradamus "Bull" Shannon on "Night Court" and the voice of Harvey Dent/Two-Face on "Batman: The Animated Series," died at his home in Big Bear Lake, California. He was 80.
At a towering 6-foot-8-inches tall, Moll often played intimidating figures, like his first television role of "Big Thug" on "Welcome Back, Kotter," Harold the Monster on "Here's Boomer," the abominable snowman in the film "Caveman," the gigantic zombie soldier in "House," Hoagie in "The Flintstones," Mestema in "The Dungeon Master," Hugh Kane in "Scary Movie 2," and even one of the Dementors in "Jingle All the Way."

Bartees Strange needs a new hobby. Back when he wasn’t playing football in high school, studying communications in college, or working a nine-to-five at the FCC, he devoted every free hour to music. Now, his only job is writing, recording, and performing songs that defy the gravity of genre to scale some of the highest ambitions on the planet — and that leaves him with time to kill.
He’s thinking of taking up rock climbing.
“I’ve been watching all the documentaries,” Strange, 33, says between spoonfuls of pho on...

If you thought the Dean redemption tour was over, you were sorely mistaken.
Good Girls Season 4 Episode 3 reminded us again of the side of Dean that often gets buried under the cheating, lying, and arrogance that jumps out of him on any given day. It’s the kinder side that wants his perfect little life with the woman he fell in love with in high school.
But he’s constantly reminded that Beth, as he knew her, no longer exists. And that life no longer exists. So what’s he going to do about it?
The story of Dean is a rollercoaster ride. He went from loathed character to somewhat relatable, annoying and forgettable, and everything else in between. There’s an indifference that floats alongside Dean because it’s pretty apparent that he is who he is at this point in the story.
He’s a good father, and...

Patti LuPone and Erinn Hayes have been tapped as the adult leads in Ok Boomer, a multi-camera comedy pilot from creator Todd Linden, the late Jamie Tarses’ Fanfare and Sony Pictures TV where the company continues to be based.
Written by Linden and to be directed by Victor Gonzalez, Ok Boomer centers on Barbara (LuPone), a self-centered boomer who shows up at her estranged daughter Sarah’s (Hayes) house hoping to live off the family’s money, but forms an unexpected bond with her progressive granddaughter who’s quick to challenge her on their differing views — of which there are plenty.
The project’s executive producers includes Vanessa McCarthy, who serves as showrunner, and Tarses, who died last month at the age of 56. Linden and Fanfare’s McCrae Dunlap co-executive produce.

Bartees Strange and his band performed an NPR Tiny Desk concert in the basement of his studio in Falls Church, Virginia — not too far from both his and NPR’s home base in Washington, D.C.
The indie artist played several songs from his debut album Live Forever, released last year; in light of the intimate setting, Strange smoothed out the hardcore and emo-inspired rough edges of tracks like “Boomer” and “Mustang” into a sound more reminiscent of neo-soul.

Typically the cold opens of “Saturday Night Live” parody the politics of the past week, but for its second show of 2021, the NBC late-night sketch comedy series looked ahead — to Sunday’s Super Bowl.
Kenan Thompson, who portrayed sportscaster James Brown in the sketch, which you can watch above, kicked things off acknowledging the complications of late, but that “today we come together in the spirit of football — and to murder millions of chickens for their delicious wings.”
However, given what the NFL has gone through in recent months with new Covid health and safety guidelines and a high volume of players testing position, that became part of the discussion for Thompson’s Brown, Chris Redd’s Nate Burleson, Mikey Day’s Phil Sims and Beck Bennett’s Boomer Esiason.
They also explored how companies advertising during the Super Bowl were planning to spread the word about the Covid vaccine...

Films The more your film vocabulary expands, the easier it will be to grasp what filmmakers are trying to do and how critics are analysing their efforts.Rajeswari ParasaImage for representation only You may be an avid follower of cinema, but at times, you may feel lost and inadequate when confronted with cinema jargon. For instance, a poster advertising a film as an 'anthology film' or a review where an actor is being praised for her 'method acting' or the film's breathtaking 'cliffhanger' ending. Here's a look at some terms that you may encounter while exploring and reading about cinema. The more your film vocabulary expands, the easier it will be for you to grasp what filmmakers are trying to do with their narratives and how critics are analysing their efforts. Bartees Strange has ignored musical boundaries his whole life, without even thinking about it. “When I played in hardcore bands, I remember writing songs and throwing in these R&b sections, or a melodic guitar section, and people would be like, ‘Bro, what are you doing? This is a hardcore band,’” recalls the 31-year-old musician. “And I’d be like, ‘You’re right, I’m an idiot, why would that work?’ But those were things that I always felt were natural to the songs. And it’s probably because I...

Bartees Strange, featured on Rolling Stone‘s Bandcamp Friday roundups, has announced his debut album, Live Forever. The LP will be out on October 2nd via Memory Music.
Strange also shared a Britain Weyant-directed video for a new single, “Boomer,” featuring the artist playing all the song’s instruments through some split-screen editing. Strange goes back-and-forth between a rap cadence on the song’s verses to full-throated singing on the chorus, reminiscent of Killers-style heartland indie rock.
