The 159-second Deadpool & Wolverine trailer contained a plethora of minute details that fans could easily overlook. All in all, the trailer had everything fans needed, and even things they didn’t think they needed. One such easter egg, hiding in plain sight, was seemingly Alioth, whom fans became more familiar with in the Loki series. Although not confirmed this surprise appearance in the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer has fans excited. What could this mean?
Alioth in Loki
Who is the Entity that Even Kang Fears, Alioth?
If one were under the impression that Kang had mastered all the intricacies there is about time, they would be mistaken. Alioth was the first entity to transcend temporal boundaries. And commands an empire surpassing Kang’s in both scale and duration, spanning billions of years prior to humanity’s inception.

“This isn’t a flip-flops and shorts show!” yelled Madonna on Monday night, marking her Celebration Tour’s arrival in Los Angeles.
For the first time in close to a decade, the Material Girl returned to the Inglewood Forum in a breathless two-hour, forty minute-plus mammoth, visually enthralling, techno-savvy concert covering her 40-year career. The last time she played this L.A. haunt was October 2015 with her Rebel Tour.
And by the way, for those keeping count: Madge hit the stage early at 9:40 Pm, versus her standard 10 Pm start time.
“I’m about to tell you the story of my life. It’s like reading from my personal diary through music, through dance, through art, through videos. I hope you can handle it,” she exclaimed to the 17,500-filled venue, aged teen to 70-something.

Plot: The new epic chapter in the battle for Castle Grayskull!. The newly mechanized Skeletor, armed with Motherboard’s might, attacks Eternia’s heart while Prince Adam grapples with a new responsibility and what that means for him as He-Man!
Review: Back in 2021, I gave a glowing review to Kevin Smith’s revival of He-Man. Titled Masters of the Universe: Revelation, the Netflix original was released in two five-episode drops, both of which I loved. A blend of modern animation techniques coupled with a throwback to the Filmation style of the 1980s cartoon, Revelation was blasted online by a vocal minority who disliked Smith’s decision to “kill off” Prince Adam in the first episode and make the series centered on Teela and many of the female characters. By the end of the full series, Smith’s vision came to fruition, even though many fans were not swayed. The second...

Former Every Time I Die singer Keith Buckley’s new band Many Eyes have unveiled their debut single, “Revelation,” and it’s an absolute crusher of a track.
The tune features Buckley in full scream mode during the verses, with a clean-sung chorus. Musically, Buckley’s new bandmates — brothers Nick and Charlie Bellmore — deliver a powerhouse instrumental.
“‘Revelation’ is about recognizing evil and having the courage, the wisdom and the faith to face it directly,” Buckley said in a press release. “I hope anyone who listens to this song feels empowered to confront injustice, no matter what form it takes in their lives.”
It’s all systems go for Buckley and company right out of the gates. A full album is on the way, as is a recently announced 2024 US tour with Thursday and Rival Schools.

Sometimes when you finish reading a good novel or collection of short stories, you look forward to picking it up again it in a year or two or 20, to reenter its world and discover new wisdom in its powers of observation, new flashes of light in its turns of phrase. Ethan Hawke’s Wildcat casts a similar spell, so rich is it in detail and nuance and creative juice. Drawing upon the distinctive voice of Flannery O’Connor, it’s a sublime portrait of a great writer, a movie I can’t wait to see again for its visual elegance, its electric leaps between an author’s life and her work, and the delicious, playful intensity of all the performances, with Maya Hawke and Laura Linney each taking on a half-dozen interconnected roles.

In Wildcat, Ethan Hawke’s drama about Flannery O’Connor that premiered at the Telluride Film Festival on Friday, a smug white woman (Laura Linney) riding a city bus gives a Black child a penny. In response, the boy’s mother smacks the white woman, whose sanctimony quickly turns to shock.
It’s easy to imagine a contemporary viral video version of this moment trending on social media and sparking arguments about privilege. But the scene comes from O’Connor’s 1961 O. Henry-award winning short story, Everything That Rises Must Converge, and it’s part of how the filmmakers reveal the Georgia-born author’s background in the Jim Crow South and her evolution on the subject of race.
“Flannery O’Connor wrote about what she knew, and what she knew about was white hypocrisy,” says Maya Hawke, who plays multiple roles in the film, including the author. “What she knew how to look at was,...

Flannery O’Connor saw folks in a way few writers did. She saw through them, past their petty prejudices and hollow pieties, to the less civilized selves they so desperately tried to keep under wraps. But it wasn’t just O’Connor’s X-ray vision that made the Georgia-born author such an uncanny reporter on the human condition. She also had the most extraordinary ear, capturing the music of how her people spoke, then lacing into her stories regional turns of phrase one simply couldn’t invent, as if she were embroidering with barbed wire.
To plagiarize (but also to canonize) O’Connor: A good writer is hard to find. Lesser talents have been ripping her off for the nearly 60 years since she died, and rather than do the same, writer-director Ethan Hawke and his mid-20s daughter Maya (whose dead-ringer resemblance to mother Uma Thurman is its own kind of...

We all know Grantchester is an ensemble drama, but Season 8’s final two hours made us feel it. Yes, there were big questions to answer for the leading men: Would Will end his guilt-and-pill-fueled bender in time to see Bonnie give birth? Would Geordie retire? But we also got enough growth from Larry to suddenly ‘ship him and Miss Scott (let’s call them Scarry!), touching scenes between Leonard and Jack, and Leonard and Daniel, and multiple reminders that the actresses playing Cathy and Mrs. C have incredible comedic timing.

When Terrifier 2 was released in theaters, much of the conversation surrounding it was devoted to its gruesome practical effects, insane levels of violence and gore, and audience reactions that included vomiting and fainting on a level not reported since the release of The Exorcist nearly fifty years before. It was being sold as a movie that would test the mettle of even the most hardened horror fan, almost like a dare, and I was excited to take that challenge. When I settled into my seat a couple weeks later, I expected to be grossed out old school, to paraphrase Stephen King’s Twitter review of the film. What I did not expect was for memories of junior high confirmation and college religion classes to be awakened. I am no theologian, but I have read and studied the Bible throughout much of my life and familiarized myself with many of...

If for any reason you’ve recently been feeling complacent about global security, international relations and oh, you know, little things like the continued existence of the species, here to herald the end of all that comes Tonje Hessen Schei and Michael Rowley’s “Praying for Armageddon,” a glossy, persuasive and increasingly alarming documentary exposing the influence of the fundamentalist Christian lobby on US politics.
Loosely tracking the investigative sleuthing done by Lee Fang, a reporter at The Intercept, but also taking ample time with parachurch pastors, GOP politicians, Israeli and Palestinian observers and Mission: M25 — an evangelical biker gang who traverse the country on compact-car-sized motorcycles proselytizing and occasionally knighting one another with swords — Schei and co-director/cinematographer Rowley’s film can feel a little scattershot, as it lops off one of the Hydra heads of this malign movement, only for two or three more to sprout in its place.

BET has announced the cable premiere of the documentary “Loudmouth,” which explores the legacy of social justice leader Reverend Al Sharpton. The documentary will premiere Feb. 25 at 4:30 p.m. on BET, BET Her, VH1, BET+ and Showtime at a later date.
“‘Loudmouth’ tells the story about how and why I had to be loud to call out the racism in a northern city like New York, where you were competing with the bright lights of Broadway,” Rev. Sharpton said in a statement. “In this crucial year, when we are fighting for racial justice in the voting booth and in the streets, I hope this film will inspire the next generation of Loudmouths to get off the sidelines.”

Selena Gomez and Afrorave star Rema have shared a new music video for their reworked version of the latter’s track, “Calm Down.”
The simple clip puts the mid-tempo groover first, following Gomez and Rema as they perform the set in a tastefully decorated living room, then later in front of a sleek silver sports car. The most fun-looking set, though, is clearly the one that gives off sleepover blanket fort vibes.
“Calm Down” was first released on Rema’s debut studio album, Rave and Roses, which arrived back in March.

During her first-ever Saturday Night Live monologue, Selena Gomez checked all the first-timer boxes.
The actress and pop star gave her mom a shout-out, manifested love, did a Miley Cyrus impression, and even sought the advice of two legendary SNL comedians, her Only Murders in the Building co-stars.
“Trust no one,” Steve Martin advised her.
“I think Steve’s been using my credit card,” said Martin Short.
Gomez then moved on to a more pressing personal matter.

Only two Latinas have been nominated at the Emmys in the lead actress comedy category in its 78-year history, and it’s no laughing matter. But, this year, we could see the third with Selena Gomez in the mystery-comedy “Only Murders in the Building” from Hulu.
Possibly following in the footsteps of Rita Moreno (who was nominated in 1983 for “9 to 5”) and America Ferrera (who won in 2007 for “Ugly Betty” and received another nom in 2008), Gomez’s role as Mabel Mora has been one of the bright spots of the show alongside comedic legends Steve Martin and Martin Short. Overall, the comedy categories are undoubtedly the most competitive this season, with even the lead actress category seemingly stacked. Nevertheless, Gomez will attempt to stay in the conversation alongside Jean Smart (“Hacks”), Rachel Brosnahan (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”) and Issa Rae (“Insecure”), while Martin and Short are hoping not to split votes with one another.

There are a lot of Grammy categories presented every year, but there will always be blind spots when it comes to awarding artistic achievements. So while some artists collect armfuls of trophies as soon as they arrive, others spend years waiting on the sidelines for their first wins, or sometimes even their first nominations. Let’s take a look at three nominees this year who could finally take home awards after years in the business.
SEELil Nas X upsetting to win Album of the Year at the Grammys would be momentous for Black queer artists Brothers Osborne
This duo quickly made names for themselves in the country music industry, being both hit-makers and acclaimed in their genre. They have also been on the Grammys’ favorites list, earning nine nominations since 2015. Furthermore, they have been nominated for Best Country Duo/Group Performance every year since then, but they have never won.

With the continued crossover success of Latin music in the English-language marketplace, the Grammys have continued to evolve their Latin awards. This year the recording academy split up pop and urban music into their own categories (they were combined last year). So who can we expect to win on January 31? Let’s break down three of the top races.
SEE2022 Grammy predictions: Top 3 artists you shouldn’t underestimate for possible upsets Best Latin Pop Album
This award might be a tight race between American pop star/actress Selena Gomez and Colombian superstar Camilo. On one hand, this category does have its fair share of crossover winners like Ricky Martin, Bad Bunny, Shakira, and Marc Anthony, which helps Gomez a lot. Furthermore, she is very much in the public eye right now, doing promo for her new movie “Hotel Transylvania 4” as well as gaining awards buzz for her role in...

This just might be the best revelación of Selena Gomez's year! Fans have been collectively squealing since the 29-year-old singer earned a Grammy nomination for her Latin Pop album, Revelación, earlier today, on Nov. 23. Released in March, the album, which is Selena's first project to feature music prominently in Spanish, earned Selena's first ever Latin Grammy nomination earlier this year for the music video for its opening track, "De Una Vez." In the 2022 Grammy category for Latin Pop Album, Selena is up against Pablo Alboran, Paula Arenas, Ricardo Arjona, Camilo and Alex Cuba. Selena's big honor comes more...

Selena Gomez fully leaned into Spanish-language pop on Revelación, the lithe, seven-song EP that saw her team up with reggaeton stars like Rauw Alejandro and Myke Towers. She follows a similar, air-light sound on “999,” a new collaboration with Colombian singer-songwriter Camilo.
Gomez’s breathy vocals fit seamlessly with Camilo’s unique tenor that it’s almost hard to tell them apart at certain points in the song. Camilo wrote “999” and produced it alongside Edgar Barrera and A.C. The video, directed by Sophie Muller, plays into the easygoing...

By now, Julia Michaels is a familiar face on the pop landscape. An in-demand songwriter for artists like Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, and Britney Spears, she scored her first Top 20 hit under her own name with her 2017 debut single, “Issues.” But even those who have been following Michaels’ career might not know a key fact about the artist: She’s Latina. Her government name is Julia Cavazos, and she’s of Puerto Rican and Mexican descent on her father’s side. And on her new single, “Only One” — a breezy...

Updated with CEO comments: Spotify saw revenue grow 16% last quarter to €2.147 billion ($2.59 billion) fueled by a 46% jump in ad sales as podcast listening hit a high and monthly active users grew 24% to 356 million, including both free and paid.
Premium subscribers increased 21%, as the company added nearly 4 million net new members to end the first three months of the year at 158 million — at the top end of forecasts.
Total MAUs however fell short of forecasts. It said “meaningful contributions” from markets like the U.S., Mexico, Russia, and India was partly offset by lower than expected growth in Latin America and Europe. And it cited pandemic-related subscriber “pull forward” — a term Netflix has also used to explain that hefty subscribers gains last year with the world in full lockdown mode aren’t necessarily sustainable quarter after quarter.

Veteran music executives Tommy Mottola and Lex Borrero have teamed up with Range Media Partners to form Ntertain — a new cross-platform content company focused on Latino talent and storytelling.
Ntertain has been quietly operational for the past six months, and is imminently preparing a slate of scripted and unscripted series and features, a well as podcasts, from top creators. The company is studio agnostic and will sell to the open market with the assistance of the Pete Micelli-led Range.
The new venture is financed by all three partners and a group of private investors, Mottola told Variety, and was conceived with Neon16’s head of creative, Ivan Rodriguez. Full creative and business executive announcements are expected in the coming days.

Selena Gomez is following in the footsteps of Christina Aguilera as the next major pop star to musically embrace their Latina heritage. Twenty years after Aguilera’s Mi Reflejo LP, Gomez dropped her first Latin project, the Revelación EP. Both titles explore a theme of reflections, like looking into the mirror at another side of their pop identities. Whereas Aguilera’s was a mix of hits re-recorded in Spanish and original material, Gomez gives the Latin sound a spin with 7 all-new songs.

Los Angeles, March 13 (Ians) Pop sensation Selena Gomez says her debut Spanish project Revelacion is meant to serve as "homage" to her Spanish roots.
"The project is really an homage to my heritage. A lot of my fan base is Latin, and I've been telling them this album was going to happen for years. But the fact that it's coming out during this specific time is really cool," Gomez told Vogue about the Extended Play (EP), as reported by People magazine.
In another interview to LA Times, the 28-year-old superstar revealed that while Spanish is her mother-tongue, it was frustrating, at times to record songs in the language.
"There's a lot of slang that I needed to learn. Spanish changes generationally as well as (geographically). Sometimes I was like, 'Wait! Hang on! I need to understand!' There would be moments where I would end the (recording) session because I would get so frustrated,...

Selena Gomez’s first Spanish-language EP, Revelación, has been a decade in the making. She first teased her fans by writing on Twitter about the idea in 2011. Life and a constantly expanding career happened, but the dream was never far from her mind. “If I’d put [this] album out back then, it wouldn’t have had the same impact,” she says.
The biggest influence on the EP’s sound is her namesake, the late icon Selena Quintanilla-Pérez, whom Gomez honored by performing “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom” at the Houston Rodeo...

No matter what language she's speaking in, Selena Gomez sure knows how to command a stage - even when it's done virtually. Celebrating the best of Latin music, the singer made her Premio Lo Nuestro debut on Feb. 18. Joined by Rauw Alejandro, Gomez performed their sexy new Spanish-language single, "Baila Conmigo." All about dancing and falling in love, the prerecorded performance is an alternative to the track's official music video, which features snippets of the artists on television screens. While the rest of the show was filmed live from Miami, the duo went virtual for their debut performance.

The academy often loves movies about social justice issues, like “Milk” and “Spotlight” in recent years, so can “Boy Erased” have a strong showing at the Oscars as well? Based on the memoir by Garrard Conley, the film centers on a young gay man (Lucas Hedges) sent to conversion therapy by his devoutly religious parents (Russell Crowe and Nicole Kidman). The film was written and directed by Joel Edgerton, who co-stars as the program’s instructor. Gold Derby recently spoke with Kidman, Edgerton and songwriter Brett McLaughlin about their work.

Edgerton was taken with the story after his agent gave him the book. “I grew up with a deep fear of institutions and I had heard a little bit about gay conversion therapy, so my morbid curiosity led me to read it,” he explains.
