Quotes
-
Jesse Robinson : What is it?
Victor Robinson : Looks like an old phonograph.
Jesse Robinson : What's That?
Victor Robinson : An old record player.
Jesse Robinson : What's That?
Victor Robinson : Nevermind.
-
Graham Scofield : -referring to painting- And what, your interpretation is that those are the two murdered children; Chloe Markle and Joshua Norris?
Victor Robinson : It's not an interpretation.
-
Sheila Robinson : Do you think what we are experiencing are dead children?
Victor Robinson : Maybe.
Sheila Robinson : Doing what exactly?
Victor Robinson : Trying to reach us; Trying to communicate with us, through Meaghan.
Sheila Robinson : Communicate, is that what you call it?
-
Victor Robinson : That must have been pretty painful for the family, the trial.
Stuart Markle : It was, especially because I'm sure they got the wrong man.
Victor Robinson : What makes you say that?
Stuart Markle : Mennias was pathetic. He knew nothing about Joshua and Chloe. He didn't even know what Joshua was wearing that day, and he had no idea where the bodies were. He forgot. The whole thing was a farce.
-
Victor Robinson : Did you know those children, either of them?
Jack Mennias : You don't have to know people to kill them.
-
Sheila Robinson : What happened?
George Giffard : Humphrey Garrett's boy from down the road.
Victor Robinson : He took the shovel.
Sheila Robinson : The shovel?
George Giffard : I don't know what he'd want with that, his old man's got all the tools he needs and them some. And he's a bit slow, if you know what I mean.
Victor Robinson : You say he lives just down the road?
George Giffard : Yeah, with his father. Not exactly the friendliest folk in the neighborhood. Especially Elson. Strange boy, doesn't speak.
Sheila Robinson : Is he dangerous?
George Giffard : I suppose he could be. He had a lot of problems when he was younger. You really oughta get a lock for that.
-
Graham Scofield : Chloe Markle and Joshua Norris. That guy Mennias jumped them on their way home from school. We ever found their bodies.
Victor Robinson : Well how did they know then?
Graham Scofield : Oh there was plenty of circumstantial evidence, and there was his confession, which was a little bit shaky I'll admit.
Victor Robinson : Why?
Graham Scofield : Jack Mennias was a drifter; spent his whole life in and out of institutions. He picked up the habit of confessing to things that he didn't do.
Victor Robinson : Why was he taken seriously?
Graham Scofield : Like I said, this time there was evidence against him.
Victor Robinson : Did you think he was guilty?
Graham Scofield : I was just a deputy, it really wasn't my case. I will say this; It could have been handled better. It was an election year, and people figured maybe it was a rush to judgement.
Victor Robinson : Are the families still in town, the victims'?
Graham Scofield : You're taking this pretty serious for a guy who's just curious.
Victor Robinson : I have 2 kids. My house was... attacked. Wouldn't you take it serious?
