Thirties variation on the perverse Passion Play story.

Clumsy, the German Mountain film running down.

The singing Tyroleans are sheltering the local land owner from Napoleonic troops, who climb mountains with their muskets at the slope. The great Fritz Rasp, in his worst performance, is refused the role of Jesus in their Passion play.

Interesting support cast includes the attractive Hoppe (later in ROMANZE in MOLLE), Kampers, Klein Rogge and, more effective, Theo Loos. Awkward in staging, groupings and editing. Zither passages in the score.

This one is the work of director Osten, whose Indian films are now having a minor revival.
