For the first time in history, a former president and current presidential candidate has been convicted of a felony. But will he still win the election?
How very 2024: Donald Trump shatters all precedents, breaks all boundaries for what a president can do or say, and yet here we are wondering whether it will even matter.
The good news is that according to every survey that’s been done this year, it will.

Rep. Elise Stefanik does not like being reminded that she once called Donald Trump a “whack job” and “insulting to women.” During a Fox News interview, the New York Republican got heated when host Shannon Bream read excerpts from a New York Times article that included quotes showing Stefanik was initially critical of Trump’s candidacy in 2016.
The Times article quoted Stefanik telling a radio station in 2016 that Trump was “insulting to women” in the Access Hollywood tape where he bragged that he liked to “grab” women “by the pussy.

Update: Michael Cohen appeared to win a battle this afternoon over how reliable his memory is of eight-year-old phone calls with Donald Trump, after faltering in an earlier round of cross-examination questioning today in the former president’s hush money trial in New York.
Before a lunch break, Trump lawyer Todd Blanche got Cohen to admit that his memory of a key call with Trump in late October 2016 — to discuss paying off porn star Stormy Daniels — was largely a product of reviewing phone logs provided by prosecutors.
Blanche showed Cohen texts from the same exact time frame that suggested another matter — a 14-year-old prank caller — was the reason Cohen rang Trump’s bodyguard.
Cohen said he still believed that the bodyguard, Keith Schiller, handed the phone to Trump so he could report to the presidential candidate that a deal with Daniels was close. Cohen was getting ready to pay her...

Crikey! “Neighbours,” the famed Australian soap opera that helped launch the careers of superstars like Kylie Minogue, Margot Robbie, Russell Crowe, Chris Hemsworth, Guy Pearce, Liam Hemsworth and Natalie Imbruglia, is getting its first-ever Emmy love.
The show, which has received several nominations and wins via Australian and U.K. TV awards shows, is now a contender on this continent. As an Amazon Freevee show, “Neighbours” has been nominated for the 2024 Daytime Emmys alongside CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful” and “The Young and the Restless,” as well as Peacock’s “Days of Our Lives,” ABC’s “General Hospital” and Popstar! TV’s “The Bay.”
Basically, pretty much everything eligible. But how did “Neighbours” make it to eligibility for the first time on these shores? When Amazon Freevee revived “Neighbours” in 2023 (after the show had been canceled the previous year), Amazon MGM Studios became the primary financier and distributor of the series,...

Donald Trump has been in court plenty of times in the past few months, but on Monday, he became the first American president to stand trial for an alleged criminal offense. Day one of the former president’s trial on charges related to a 2016 hush-money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels began in Manhattan — and tensions ran high.
State prosecutors and Trump’s attorneys kicked things off by arguing over what evidence will be admissible during the proceedings, and it quickly became clear that the jury selection process might take quite a while.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read ahead if you have not watched Season 11, Episode 4 of “The Masked Singer,” “TV Theme Night,” which aired March 27 on Fox.
“Extra” host Billy Bush won’t get an extra shot at “The Masked Singer.” The entertainment newsmagazine anchor and one-time morning drive radio host was the next celebrity to be unmasked on Wednesday’s “TV Theme Night” edition of “The Masked Singer.”
“I’m not a great singer,” Bush said. “If you can’t make it with the lips, make it with the hips. If you’ve never done something that’s a little on the scary side — and this is scary — say yes!”
For Bush, none of the panelists got it right. Robin Thicke guessed Anderson Cooper. Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg picked Seth Meyers. Ken Jeong picked Ryan Seacrest. New panelist Rita Ora said it was Andy Cohen.

Tuesday was not a good day for Ronna McDaniel — or, is it Ronna Romney McDaniel again, as she now admits the 2020 election was not stolen? She went from a high-profile gig on NBC to no gig and no agent, as CAA also dropped her.
It was also a bad day for NBC News Group chairman Cesar Conde, who found it necessary to “personally apologize to our team members who felt we let them down.” Conde didn’t exactly fall on his sword by himself; he mentioned in his letter to staff that this was “a collective recommendation by some members of our leadership team.” But he acknowledged that the buck stopped with him.
At least McDaniel is getting a payout. So, no harm, no foul, right? Well, not exactly. This was hardly the simple loss of a job, as the fallout at NBC has made it impossible for her to...

There aren’t many child stars in Hollywood who maintained fame and wealth over decades like Mario Lopez. Lopez became famous in the 80s and 90s for playing the character A.C. Slater on NBC’s Saved by the Bell and other spin-off projects. Unsurprisingly, with his dimpled cheeks, Lopez had a growing number of female fans. Although he hasn’t starred in big-budget television series or films in years, Lopez has been a co-host of the weekday TV entertainment news program Access Hollywood, which he joined in 2019. Entering his fourth decade as an actor and television personality, Lopez has worked with and...

Arianne Zucker, a longtime star of “Days of Our Lives,” filed a lawsuit on Wednesday alleging that she and others were sexually harassed by the show’s co-executive producer.
Zucker alleges that Albert Alarr, who was fired last summer, routinely made offensive sexual comments, tightly hugged Zucker and other women and bullied female employees.
The suit alleges that Alarr enjoyed filming aggressive sex scenes and threesome scenes. Once while directing Zucker in a sex scene, Alarr told her co-star, “believe me, I’d love to switch positions with you,” according to the complaint.
She alleges that Alarr would also give direction like, “Fuck him like you were younger!” After unwanted touching or inappropriate comments, he would routinely say “good thing there is no Hr here,” the lawsuit states.
Last March, Zucker complained to the head of the show’s production company, Ken Corday. Her complaints, and those of others, were...

When “Extra” interviewed Harrison Ford at his “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” premiere in June, the show was proceeding as usual: The actor, the reporter, the branded microphone, the cameras. Then suddenly everything changed — “Everything Everywhere All at Once” Oscar-winner Ke Huy Quan bounded into the frame and reunited with his co-star from 1984’s “Temple of Doom.” The moment went viral, and “Extra” had another feather in its cap.

“Access Hollywood” executive producer Mauren Fitzpatrick will be leaving the show after four years, two individuals with knowledge told TheWrap.
Fitzpatrick began helming the NBC entertainment newsmagazine franchise in 2019, taking over running both the taped show and “Access Live” as longtime EP Rob Silverstein exited after 20 years in the position.
Fitzpatrick’s departure follows the exit of production executive Justin Batey, who served as senior executive in charge of production.

The WGA had also planned to picket Netflix’s first-ever upfront presentation, which was set to take place at the Paris Theater near the Plaza Hotel Wednesday afternoon. That led to the streamer scrapping the in-person event, which will now be held virtually.

A spokesperson said, “Tonight Kaitlan Collins exemplified what it means to be a world-class journalist. She asked tough, fair and revealing questions. And she followed up and fact-checked President Trump in real time to arm voters with crucial information about his positions as he enters the 2024 election as the Republican frontrunner. That is CNN’s role and responsibility: to get answers and hold the powerful to account.”
Previously, 6:08 Pm: Donald Trump called Kaitlan Collins “a nasty person” as she pressed him on his withholding of classified material despite requests by the National Archives to return them.
The crowd cheered.
Collins did not react to the comment, and continued to ask him about the documents.

Donald Trump has been accused of sexual misconduct by a slew of women during his decades of prominence as a public figure. On Tuesday, for the first time, a jury ruled that the former president was liable for sexual battery against author E. Jean Carroll, who accused Trump of having raped her in the dressing room of a New York Department store in the Nineties.

Donald Trump has managed to cow his Republican 2024 opponents into defending him at every turn — even when he’s been found liable for sexual battery.
A New York jury ruled on Tuesday that Trump must pay $5 million in civil damages to author E. Jean Carroll, who alleged the former president raped her in the ‘90s. While the jury stopped short of ruling the attack was rape, they did find that Trump was liable for sexual battery against Carroll and had later defamed her after she came forward.

An October 2022 video of Donald Trump being interrogated about the rape allegations against him was made public on Friday. Jurors involved in the E. Jean Carroll civil battery and defamation trial had access to written transcripts of the former president’s testimony but not the recording.
In the video deposition, Trump affirmed that he previously made official statements that he did not know Carroll, described her allegations that he raped her in a department store dressing room in the mid-90s as a “hoax” and “a false, disgusting lie” and said she was “not his type.” He also called Carroll several names, including “nut job” and “mentally sick.”

Donald Trump hasn’t been mounting much of a defense in the defamation and battery case E. Jean Carroll brought against the former president. In fact, his lawyers told the court earlier this week they wouldn’t be presenting any defense at all, and that Trump would not be appearing at the trail, during which Carroll has already given powerful testimony about Trump allegedly raping her in a department store dressing room nearly 30 years ago.

ABC’s legendary sudser “General Hospital” is looking to defend its crown at the Daytime Emmys, landing 19 nominations this year — the most of any program — as the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced contenders for the landmark 50th annual Daytime Emmy Awards.
Last year, “General Hospital” was the big winner with five awards — including best daytime drama — as the telecast returned to a live, in-person event. This time out, NATAS first revealed multiple categories Tuesday night via various entertainment shows, and it looked like CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” — also in the middle of its 50th anniversary celebration — had taken an early lead.
But after all was tallied, CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful” was actually next in line, with 14 nods, followed by “The Young and the Restless” (13), NBC’s “Days of Our Lives” (11) and the most-honored non-serial, the syndicated “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” also with 11.

After months of speculation, this week saw Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg pull the trigger by indicting twice-impeached ex-president Donald Trump on what’s reported to be more than 30 charges of financial fraud, including the hush-money payoff to porn star Stormy Daniels.
Naturally, television late-night hosts had a field day with the news that, for the first time in American history, a former U.S. president is facing criminal charges.

The news that a Manhattan grand jury voted to indict former President Donald Trump broke shortly before many of the late night shows taped their Thursday night episodes, but most of the hosts were still able to get in a few jokes at Trump’s expense.
The indictment came after a grand jury investigation into six-figure payments made to porn star Stormy Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal during Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign to silence allegations of extramarital affairs, which both women claim took place. Trump denies having sexual encounters with either woman and has denied wrongdoing with respect to the payments.
Stephen Colbert announced that he’d just heard of the grand jury’s vote three minutes before he took the stage for his monologue, but that was still enough time for the Late Show team to whip up a couple of quips, and an ice cream sundae in a baseball hat,...

It had to be the Academy Awards that got burned in tonight’s SNL cold open, didn’t it? But did it have to be this gammy cold open?
“Last year’s Oscars had the slap, which was awesome, I mean bad, so bad,” said Heidi Gardner as “either Maria Menounos or Kit Hoover they haven’t told me which yet” in the NBC late-night show’s first few minutes. “So, this year to make sure nothing crazy happens, the Academy hired a new head of security: notoriously calm and sane person, Mike Tyson,” she says as Kenan Thompson strolled on screen as the former heavyweight champion.
At that point, Saturday Night Live should have realized that it had a case of less is more. But the show wanted more.

Actor Tom Sizemore, best known for his role in “Saving Private Ryan,” is in a Los Angeles hospital in critical condition after suffering a brain aneurysm.
According to his manager Charles Lago, Sizemore was found unconscious in his home around 2 a.m. Sunday and was immediately transported to a local hospital, where he remains in the intensive care unit.
Sizemore has a history of substance abuse problems — including addiction to cocaine, heroin and methamphetamines — that began when he was 15. After struggling with Dr. Drew Pinsky’s program for 10 years, Sizemore appeared on the third season of VH1’s “Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew” in 2010, after which Sizemore achieved sobriety. Pinsky cited Sizemore as one of the show’s biggest successes.
In 2013, he told “Access Hollywood” that his “Heat” co-star Robert De Niro joined his family in an intervention to get him on the right track.

Sippin’ on Globes and juice, Snoop Dogg was the surprise presence at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s early morning Golden Globes announcement on Monday. Entering a subdued Beverly Hilton ballroom, Snoop and HFPA president Helen Hoehne announced this year’s nominations a bit like it was business as usual.

Emmy-nominated entertainment journalist and USA Network’s “America’s Big Deal” host Scott Evans will expand his existing NBCUniversal relationship with an overall talent and development deal with the network.
The pact encompasses unscripted opportunities across television and streaming entertainment platforms, including Evans’ current co-hosting roles for NBC’s “Access Daily” and “Access Hollywood.” In addition, Evans will receive a first-look deal for projects to leverage his production chops and host across the programming ecosystem of NBCUniversal.
“Scott is an amazing talent, and we are deeply committed to expanding his already impressive footprint across our platforms,” said Tomii Crump, head of unscripted casting and talent, NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, in a statement. “He’s the consummate host and journalist, and this deal will allow him to work in spaces that align with his passions. We love having Scott as part of the NBCU family and look forward to our continued collaboration.

Cody Rigsby and Cheryl Burke performed the first virtual routine in “Dancing with the Stars” history Monday night after they tested positive for breakthrough cases of Covid-19, but the couple is hoping to be back in the ballroom next week to put on a real show for the two-night Disney Night affair.
“As long as we’re cleared and all the higher powers say that we can be in the ballroom, we’re gonna be in the ballroom,” Rigsby told “Access Hollywood.”
Rigsby and Burke will be done with their 10-day quarantines by the Oct. 11 show. Both have missed the past two tapings after Burke tested positive last Sunday, forcing judges to critique rehearsal footage of their salsa last Monday. Rigsby sat out that broadcast due to his close contact with Burke and announced his positive test on Thursday.
On Monday’s Britney Night, they performed a jazz routine virtually from their respective homes.

“Dancing with the Stars'” two-night Disney Night next week means double the dances, double the songs and maybe a Disney flick some contestants haven’t even seen yet. Such is the case for JoJo Siwa and Jenna Johnson.
For the two-night event, the couple is performing a Viennese waltz inspired by “Cinderella” for Monday’s Heroes Night — that one they have seen, because who hasn’t? — and a paso doble on Tuesday’s Villains Night inspired by the offspring of some iconic Disney villains.
“We’re gonna be Descendants, which we need to make it a point to watch the movie because neither of us have seen it,” Siwa told “Access Hollywood.” “However, I convinced Jenna on ‘Descendants’ because I like the music.”
“Yeah, so she’s very excited about the song. We’re not going to reveal that, but we’re doing a paso doble,” Johnson teased.
