I think that Franco sat down and thought - what haven't I done in life? I am best friends with the Gov' of CA - I have Mr. Universe, I have a good practice. But wait, I haven't gotten to slam a man's head in a fuzball game, I haven't gotten to drive over a car with a large piece of machinery, I haven't spent enough time with Frank Stallone, so I will make another movie!!

I am confused since the plot of the previous movie he made and this one sound so alike - but I haven't seen the other movie - I will watch the dollar bin for that one, since that is where I got this one.

I was a great way to spend an afternoon - (we had watched Pumping iron earlier in the week and thought it was Karma to find this movie in the WalMart bin)

It has the most interesting way of killing someone I have ever seen - Smash them - run them over - and toss them in the trash (literally) -

The beautiful landscapes - the blue skies - the mountains, that made it fun to watch - Franco is no Arnold - but it almost made it better.

If you figure out the plot any better though - please let me know - plus the ties to the Alive movie - was one just a re-do of the other? Because it seemed if they were the same that the senator would be meeting him for the first time - again - and should really watch his mistresses locations better. (I am going by the review of the 1995 flick)

I'm not sure, but I believe this is the same movie as "Taken Alive" Franco's 95 release. I haven't sat all the way through this one yet. I purchased it tonight at Walmart for $1 thinking it was something I hadn't seen. If it isn't exactly the same movie then they re-used a LOT of footage, plot, etc. Very strange.

Anyhow, I watched Taken Alive and enjoyed it. But, I am a serious old-time bodybuilding fan. Franco, as some may know, is a two-time Mr. Olympia, 1976 and 1981. Which, is the highest achievement in bodybuilding. His 1981 Olympia win is one of the most controversial in the history of the sport. He was very muscular, but had a serious leg injury and terrible gynocomastia on one of his pectorals, i.e. he had a small female breast from steroid use. Enough with the history of bodybuilding. As I said, although I enjoyed this movie, very few in the general population will. It's not a "great" action flick, just a quirky low budget porno movie sans the actual porn.

"Doublecross on Costa's Island" is a perfect example how to save money on a movie. Director, writer, producer and star Franco Columbo took the footage from his film "Taken Alive", made 3 years earlier, added some new scenes with him and actor William Smith and cut it together.

William Smith is fantastic as always but if you have seen "Taken Alive" then don't waste your time because more than 2/3 of the film is used from the same footage. Even for the ending Columbo used the same as from "Taken Alive".
