The systemic erasure of queer killings is investigated in the HBO docuseries “Last Call: When a Serial Killer Stalked Queer New York.”
Directed by Anthony Caronna, the four-part series unpacks the homophobic lack of police effort to find Richard Rogers, a serial killer targeting gay men in the early 1990s New York City nightlife scene. The documentary is based on Elon Green’s book “Last Call: A True Story of Love, Lust, and Murder in Queer New York.”
Per the official synopsis, in the early 1990s, with homophobia and hate crimes on the rise as the AIDS crisis worsened, a serial killer preyed upon gay men in New York City, infiltrating queer nightlife to find his victims. “Last Call” dives deeply into the prejudices and attitudes of the times, when deep-rooted biases in the criminal justice system and the media’s distorted public perception of the victims undermined the investigation...

You can officially call Lisa Rinna a “momager.”
“I have mad respect for Kris Jenner,” Lisa tells Et. “Let me just say that. I really do. I've always liked Kris Jenner, I now have mad respect for her, because she does it times six or more. I'm doing it for two and it is a full-time job! Ok? Way more. Way harder than my own job, but I'm happily doing it. I love it so much, I wouldn't want it any other way. It is thrilling.”
Lisa is spending a lot of her time these days helping to manage her daughters’ booming modeling careers. In the last year, 19-year-old Delilah Belle and 16-year-old Amelia Gray Hamlin have become two sought-after faces in the world of fashion.
“It's no joke now,” Lisa says. “It's, like, real -- real deal. I know, 18 months ago, 15 months ago, they were working at the deli! Hello! Life has changed...

On top of Star Wars: The Force Awakens two years ago, and the side trip last year to the stand-alone Rogue One, Disney has now more than confirmed the wisdom of rebooting Lucasfilm’s crown jewel saga with what just might be the best film in the entire series that started 40 years ago in the mind of George Lucas. That first movie, 1977’s Star Wars, is to date still the only one (and one of the very few science fiction films, period) to have garnered a Best Picture Oscar…...

The holidays are upon us! There’s Christmas cheer all around as Jack Frost nips at our noses. Though in this week’s episode of Madam Secretary, there’s no time to be merry and bright. I am on the secretary’s side when she said that the holiday party is a charade to execute a political agenda and to feed rich people. That, and she, like myself, is not much of a party person. On the other hand, this party served its purpose. Elizabeth got the necessary votes for the Calgary Treaty on Land Mines. On top of that, Henry and his team

Perhaps one of the most unusual and surprising shows to open on Broadway in 2017 is a musical adaptation of Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants. An international sensation, the long-running cartoon about the adventures of a yellow anthropomorphic sea sponge and his underwater friends living in the city of Bikini Bottom has spawned two movies, video games and theme park rides.
Now, SpongeBob’s eclectic world is the source of a delightful new theater production conceived and directed by Tina Landau with a book written by Kyle Jarrow and music supervision, orchestration and arrangements by Tom Kitt. The show, playing at The Palace Theatre, stars Ethan Slater as the titular sponge, Gavin Lee as Squidward Q. Tentacles, Lilli Cooper as Sandy Cheeks, Danny Skinner as Patrick Star and Wesley Taylor as Sheldon Plankton.

On top of Episodes VIII, Episode IX and Rian Johnson’s planned fourth trilogy, Disney and Lucasfilm are also working on a host of Star Wars spinoff movies under the Anthology banner. Last year brought us Rogue One, next year will usher in Solo and sometime in the near future we’ll get an Obi-Wan standalone, too. That’s not all, though, as it appears now that an old project has been resurrected as well: the Boba Fett movie.
Star Wars fans might recall that a vehicle for the beloved bounty hunter was announced a few years ago, with Chronicle‘s Josh Trank attached to direct. After his career crashed and burned following 2014’s Fantastic Four, however, the Boba Fett movie seemed to have been shelved indefinitely. Back in August, though, we learned that Lucasfilm was thinking of resurrecting the project.

The original Dead Rising was one of the first games on the Xbox 360 I remember getting really hyped about. The young console needed something that truly took advantage of its power, and the zombie-survival title seemed like the perfect test subject. From a technical standpoint, I was correct on that hunch. Problem was, due to the strict time limit imposed by the game, I didn’t really enjoy playing it. I know that that challenge has drawn its fair share of praise, but it just wasn’t for me. As such, I avoided the later entries in the series, even knowing mechanics were being reconfigured. 11 years later, though, much like Frank West, I have returned to the series with Dead Rising 4: Frank’s Big Package.
After taking an extended hiatus from the series, original protagonist Frank West is once again stuck in the hell on Earth known as Willamette,...

Warning: Spoilers ahead for the Arrow-verse crossover, “Crisis on Earth X”.
The CW has made crossovers between its DC based shows a regular tradition, as they should appear at least once per season. Starting from the second season of Arrow, when Barry first appeared as a nerdy forensic expert. Now this year’s epic crossover “Crisis On Earth X” is much larger and more ambitious, especially when compared to last years’ “Invasion”. That’s not to say “Invasion” wasn’t enjoyable but the episode of Supergirl wasn’t even really a part of the story. So instead of just focusing on this weeks episode of The Flash, I am going to give you the highlights (and low points) of this years
Here are the Top 5 Hits and Duds from this Gigantic four-part event:

5. Sara and Alex’s Chemistry:

The network has ordered an additional six episodes, bringing the first season episode count up to 16. On top of that, executive producer Kevin Etten is exiting the supernatural sitcom. Paul Lieberstein, a veteran of NBC's The Office has been named a new Ep and will take the reins as showrunner for the final six episodes of the freshman installment. Airing on the Fox television network, Ghosted stars Lieberstein's fellow Office alum Craig Robinson, with Adam Scott, Ally Walker, Adeel Akhtar, and Amber Stevens West. The comedy centers on ex-lapd detective and current mall security guard, Leroy Wright (Robinson), and former Stanford astrophysics professor and current bookstore clerk, Max Jennifer (Scott). Beyond just the standard trailer(s) and poster, many films have an entire promotional campaign designed to spark interest. Here’s a look at ten film promotional campaigns which should have stayed on the drawing board.
Selling a movie is not an easy task, and over the years it has not gotten any easier. Promotional campaigns have to be very creative and persistent in order to capture people’s attention amid the sea of advertising we are flooded with on a daily basis. Common tactics include giveaways, publicity stunts, viral marketing techniques, sponsorships, and product tie-ins. Many films try to push the boundaries of traditional promotional campaigns in an effort to get an edge on the competition. Below is a brief look at ten campaigns (in no particular order) which definitely pushed the envelope, but doing so did more harm than good for the films they were trying to promote.

Your wardrobe could learn a few things from the Suits star. No matter the occasion (dinner date, business meeting, brunch, girl's night out, etc.) Meghan Markle's classic style never waivers—making her always-regal outfits seem rather, well, unattainable. But just because she's now engaged to Prince Harry, even wearing a ring that features diamonds from Princess Diana's collection, doesn't mean you can't cop her style. On top of her being incredibly talented when it comes to high-low mixing (mixing high-end garments with low-end accessories and vice versa), there are three main reasons why Meghan's closet is so perfectly curated, and they are as...

No more warming the bench for Ivar the Boneless.
The Vikings character drew sympathy from fans when he was introduced as Ragnar Lothbrok's crippled son in season four -- but took a turn after proving himself as a leader of the Great Heathen Army and driving an axe through the heart of his brother, Sigurd (David Lindström), in the season four finale.
Et caught up with Alex Hogh Andersen ahead of Wednesday's season five premiere, where he previewed Ivar's struggles -- but chuckled at questions about his character's motives.
"That's always the question. Is he really sorry?" he cracked, reflecting on Ivar's huge move. "He's in remorse, because he knows what follows. There's a massive cliff now between him and his brothers, but most of his [remorse] is about hating the fact that he lost control of himself."

If you’re facing down an Infinity Stone powered Mad Titan, you’ve got to look your best. This is probably why Chris Hemsworth’s Thor is looking so damn dapper in those recently released Avengers: Infinity War promotional pictures that accompany the big Kevin Feige interview in Vanity Fair.
Let’s be honest, though. While this new outfit – seen in the gallery below – is in the upper echelons of McU Thor costumery, it’s still not exactly breaking the mold when it comes to design. Six big round ‘buckles’? Check. Faux chain-mail sleeves? Check. Flowing red cape? Check. Yup, it’s a Thor outfit alright.
But dig a little deeper and you can actually start to figure out a bit more about where the character ended up after Ragnarok. Perhaps most notably, the God of Thunder is looking remarkably binocular here. One of the big moments in the finale...

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has succeeded beyond everyone’s wildest dreams. The franchise delivers blockbuster after blockbuster and rakes in billions of dollars, so it’s hardly surprising that the studio is making plans beyond the cataclysmic Avengers: Infinity War, which will wrap up plotlines that have been building since Phase One.
Said plans (revealed in an interview with Kevin Feige in Vanity Fair) involve an astonishing 20 upcoming films in the franchise, which by my estimate should take us all the way up to 2030. And that’s not including the unreleased McU movies currently in various stages of production like Black Panther, Ant-Man and the Wasp, and the upcoming Avengers double bill.
It’s safe to say that somewhere in these 20 films will be sequels to current Phase 3 pics like Spider-Man: Homecoming and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but the scope of the next ten years makes us wonder...

Many elements of Justice League proved controversial, and towards the top of that list is Danny Elfman’s score. Some fans are pleased that the legendary superhero movie composer was invited back to provide the soundtrack for the DC team-up film, even peppering his work with the likes of John Williams’ 1978 Superman theme and his own 1989 Batman theme. However, others have reacted strongly to Elfman’s appointment, feeling that his style strays too far away from the sound of Hans Zimmer and Junkie Xl, who have scored previous Dceu entries.
For those who would have loved to have heard Zimmer’s score over Justice League‘s key moments, Twitter user CinematicEx has given us a taste of what that would be like. On top of a leaked copy of the movie’s final scene, Zimmer’s awesome Man of Steel theme is played.
I cucked Warner Bros so here it is again!

The latest installment of The Walking Dead aired tonight and continued Rick and his allies’ all-out war against the Saviors.
Season 8, episode 6 was titled “Big Scary U” and finally reintroduced Negan, after we last saw him and Father Gabriel trapped in a shed surrounded by a horde of walkers back in the season premiere. Meanwhile, with the big bad currently out of action, the Saviours had to learn to function without their leader around to guide them and Gregory’s treachery was further explored as we got to see his underhanded alliance with Simon.
All in all, this was another great hour of television for the show, and the plot of season 8 is continuing to move along nicely, leaving us excited to see where things go from here. Speaking of which, we now have the first promo and sneak peek for next week’s installment, titled “The King, the Widow,...

After Terminator: Genisys stunk to high heaven, it looked like the iconic sci-fi franchise might finally be over. However, we should have remembered the T-800’s immortal words, as Arnold Schwarzenegger’s robot assassin will be back once again in the upcoming Terminator 6. Previously, original director James Cameron made clear that the new film would distance itself from the past three installments in the series by only acting as a sequel to T2: Judgement Day. Linda Hamilton will even reprise her role as Sarah Connor for the first time since the 1991 sequel.

Last year’s Arrowverse crossover – titled “Invasion!” – was already a pretty huge affair, but this fall’s “Crisis on Earth-x” event promises to be even bigger. On top of having the cast seeing double when they come up against their Nazi doppelgangers from another Earth, one of the stars has revealed the whopping amount of heroes who’ll take part in the crossover.
Ex-Superman actor Brandon Routh – who plays Ray Palmer/the Atom on Legends of Tomorrow – revealed a highlight of his that will occur in the event during a recent set visit. He announced that one scene in particular will see the united heroes of the Arrowverse come together on the bridge of the Waverider. And there’s going to be a heck of a lot of them.
“I have a limited adventure in the crossover, but I do get to work with a few people that we had a good time.

Movie posters are an important advertising element for a film. But what happens when they don't do such a great job in promoting their film?
Movie posters are supposed to be the first and most prominent promotional tool of a film. Many times movie posters may be the first official material released for a film production as well as the first opportunity that the film has to reach its potential audience. That makes them very important. Like trailers, they are meant to capture your attention. Unlike trailers, they are not supposed to give too much away. There are various techniques that have been used over the years to accomplish this task including bright colors, eye-catching fonts, and the prominent inclusion of big name stars’ faces. Graphic design as well as a general nod to the production design of the film are important components for every movie poster. Before the advent of computers,...

Because I’m a giant film geek, I absolutely adore those “what if X directed Y” video mashups. Perhaps my all-time favorites are Patrick (H) Willem’s What If Wes Anderson Directed X-Men and What If Ingmar Bergman Directed The Flash. Now, it looks like we have two new challengers: “Jack and Justin” aka Justin Nijm and Jack Bishop, who you might be familiar with from their online comedy shorts – particularly, Dennis Quaid’s On-Set Freak-Out, which was featured on Jimmy Kimmel.

Nobody could have predicted just how successful It would turn out to be. Sure, it’s a marketable property based on a popular novel, but isn’t the killer clown thing just a little bit played out in 2017? Apparently not, because Andy Muschietti’s adaptation of (half of) Stephen King’s 1986 horror novel has to date grossed an astonishing $683 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing horror film of all-time and the second highest grossing R-rated film of all-time (after Deadpool). Not only was it a financial hit, then, but it was a critical darling, too, and is now regarded as one of the best Stephen King adaptations ever.

Justice League‘s review embargo has nearly expired, so by this time tomorrow we’ll have a decent idea whether it’s any good or not. But, as more and more people catch preview screenings, we’re starting to build up a picture of what actually happens in the movie. On that note, we now have the answer to one of the questions we’ve been wondering for months: how does Superman come back to life?
Word is that his resurrection comes courtesy of a number of factors, namely the genesis pool from his Kryptonian ship, an Apokoliptian Motherbox and a spark provided by The Flash. Once they got this figured out, the League get out the shovels for some good old-fashioned bodysnatchin’ and exhume his corpse. Thankfully, his Kryptonian DNA means he hasn’t decomposed, so they bring him back to life. Unfortunately for the team, though, Superman is...

The latest episode of The Walking Dead aired tonight and continued Rick and his allies’ all-out war against the Saviors.
Titled “Some Guy,” the outing picked up where last week’s installment left off, as King Ezekiel and his men (plus, Carol) recover from the massacre they suffered after a failed ambush at a Saviors outpost, which turned out to be where their arsenal was kept. Meanwhile, Rick and Daryl continued on their own mission, with Rick confronting his friend about his recent shoot-first, talk-later mentality.

The news comes from Bob Iger himself, Disney's CEO/Chairman, during the company's quarterly earnings call. In MGM’s 1958 Western “The Law and Jake Wade,” Robert Taylor rides down from the Sierra Nevada mountains early one morning into a small town and busts his old partner-in-crime, Clint Hollister (Richard Widmark), out of the hoosegow. Hollister is a nasty guy. Not satisfied with escaping a hanging, to Jake’s dismay, he clubs the sheriff and shoots a couple of people out in the street while he and Jake make their getaway. Jake has to take his rifle away from him to keep from killing more people.
Back up in the mountains Clint wants to ride on with Jake but Jake says no. He busted Clint out of jail because he figured he owed him for doing the same thing for him once. Now they’re even. Clint doesn’t agree. There’s that matter of the $20,000 they stole on their last job together.
