Hello! It’s been a while since we found out that Disney+ UK’s launch would be running around five months behind its debut in the Us and we’ve certainly had a grumble about it, as we’re fond of doing here on days with ‘y’s’ in them, but the streaming service is finally coming to this green and, er, pleasant land later this month.
Looking ahead to what we can expect to find on the platform, we’ve grabbed an official list of movies, TV series and specials streaming on Disney+ UK at launch, and hopefully you’ll find something that excites you on it. If not? Ehh, there are always those other ten bajillion streaming providers to choose from.
Indeed, you’ll notice a lot of these titles were previously staples of the defunct Disney+ Life app, which is being fully replaced by Disney+, and there...

Wondering which Disney Channel Original Movies have made it onto the Disney+ platform? We've got you covered.
Zoom, zoom, zoom. Make my heart go boom boom. Disney+ is here.
Much of the focus around the launch of Disney's new streaming service platform has been on its flashiest of assets—your Star Wars and your Marvel movies and TV shows. But Disney is a massive media conglomerate with more assets in one of its mouse ears than most media companies have in their whole being. Yes, we're talking about Disney Channel Original Movies (affectionately known as Dcom).
You've got your Zenon (Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century, Zenon: The Zequel, and Zenon: Z3). You've got your High School Musical (the original, High School Musical 2, and Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure). You've got your Luck of the Irish. If you are an older millennial or anyone who enjoys earnest,...

Brooklyn Nine-Nine on Tuesday closed out its exceptional fall run with two big returns and one not-so-thinly veiled threat.
RELATEDWhen Will Your Favorite Shows Return From the Holidays? Save These Dates!
Before we get to any of that, let’s start with Rosa, who in the first half-hour not only came out as bisexual to the rest of the squad, but also to her parents (From Dusk Till Dawn’s Danny Trejo and Orange Is the New Black’s Olga Merediz), who were not nearly as understanding. She tricked Jake into attending dinner with Mom and Dad, who assumed that...

12.1 Cured
“Thank you, deep space!”
In recent years, it's never stopped being remarkable that we're still getting new episodes of Red Dwarf. The show's second lease on life got off to a bit of a shaky start with 2009's Back To Earth, but the back-to-basics approach of subsequent series has got the boys from the Dwarf (waggle your hands appropriately) back on track.
Red Dwarf Xii comprises the second batch of six episodes, out of the twelve that were filmed in early 2016, and as such, you might expect that there isn't much difference in tone between XI and Xii. Remarkably, writer and director Doug Naylor has given us Cured, a high concept...

As series Xii arrives online this week, we count down twenty of the best Red Dwarf episodes from across the show's long history...
Putting together a list of the Top 20 episodes of Red Dwarf presented an unusual challenge. The truth is, there’s barely a bum note in the first 36 episodes (Series I – VI) and then it’s a case of finding the quality episodes among the less successful half hours in the following 31 (Series VII – XI). The most accurate ‘top 20’ would be composed almost entirely of episodes from those first 36. However, for this list, we’ve resisted the urge to simply list most of the first six series and have deliberately ensured that this selection covers a reasonable span of the show, with every series except IX represented somewhere. This way, we can offer a more balanced overview of the whole history of the show, and...

It’s a powerful plea against the death penalty, but also an Oscar bid for a fiery actress. And don’t forget the cool jazz music score. On top of this Robert Wise adds a formerly- taboo sequence, a realistic depiction of an execution in the gas chamber. Of such things were gritty, hard-hitting reputations made.

Doing the Time Warp again is trickier than it looks, as this Fox Halloween tribute to the original Rocky Horror shows...
The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a formula that continues to work astonishingly well, all things considered. It’s a borderline nonsensical celebration of the camp and the queer that still delights audiences four decades on. It’s also a formula that a lot of filmmakers and stage directors are fearful to change. Not least because the musical and film has such a devout and protective purist fan-base.

Cue a season’s worth of pining, scheming, and terrible decisions in general.

Anyone who’s ever owned a cat will tell you that a lot of what they get up to, particularly when they’re outside the house, is a mystery. So in some ways, it’s fitting that Red Dwarf’s Cat is easily the character we know the least about. He’s only had one true focus episode, back in the very first series, and mostly exists to make scenes funnier. But on a ship with three other sort-of men, he’s had very little opportunity to indulge in one particular feline pastime - until now.

Even during its most serious episodes, The Good Wife has delivered moments as funny (if not funnier) than the majority of network comedies. Yet while that’s a major selling point for CBS’ most deliciously twisty drama (I’d present Season 6’s “Oppo Research” as Exhibit A), I’m a little worried creators Robert and Michelle King have started to become a little too fond of sitcommy devices — including, but not just limited to Eli’s closet office — these last few weeks.

Soviet Nostalgia: Hoover’s Complex Portrait of a Ukrainian Vigilante Pastor Opens Cultural Can of Worms
Steve Hoover’s sophomore feature opens on a Ukrainian industrial landscape overlayed with the following quote from My First Fee by Isaac Babel, a Russian author whose futile death came at the hands of the Soviet secret police: “A well thought out story doesn’t need to resemble real life. Life itself tries with all its might to resemble a well-crafted story.” Out of context, it merely foreshadows the high tension tale to follow, yet knowing Babel’s fate – which isn’t mentioned in the film – brings greater depth to the Ukrainian/Russian situation that snowballs throughout. In Crocodile Gennadiy, what begins as an astounding, morally murky portrait of a man subverting inert government organizations to rescue abused children morphs into a something more akin to a unraveling sketch of a man clutching his overflowing family,...

Much like "Vertigo," this "Can of Worms" had me wondering what I had just seen the minute the episode ended.
Royal Pains continues to struggle to find its groove, though it did provide us at least some increased clarity on at least one major plot point.
This week we were finally reminded - and had clearly explained to us - what exactly it is that Boris and Hank are up to. Apparently the intend to stage a fake medical trial in order to bait Milosh into coming to the states so he can be arrested for crimes he committed against Boris. Couldn't they have just said that to us in the first place.
They seem so nonchalant about the whole thing, as if rising from the dead in the midst of a dramatic death and the federal arrest of a relative is more normal than taking a trip to he grocery store.

It’s a tricky one launching a new TV season. You’ve got to look confident even if you’re in strife. But you shouldn’t sing too loudly if you’re winning.
Last week, what little commentary around Seven’s upfronts that didn’t focus on Celebrity Splash was on their somewhat triumphalist approach.
Fair to say, that wasn’t a criticism that could be levelled at Ten this morning.
The first word I had back from one media buyer who was at the Sydney presentation was “humble”.
As well they might be after the year they’ve just had.
But in terms of 2013, I suspect that the 500 or so people in the room will have left more confident in the network then they were at the start of the day.
Stability is the strategy. Gone are the risks of I will Survive, Everybody Dance Now and being Lara Bingle.

So here we are finally watching Lip Service after months and months of full on c--k-teasing by the BBC. It’s like we’ve been having a long-term online relationship with Lip Service and we’re finally meeting for the first time. We’ve dressed up and we’re a little bit drunk.
While we waited, we watched Anne Lister — which was really very good — but we’ll be glad of some modern day action. We also watched bits of The Real L Word so we’ll be glad of something that doesn’t make us feel violently sick.
The first scene opens on a sunny street.
Lee: But this doesn’t look like Glasgow?...
