Double Feature is amazing. It's that simple. Winner of ten — yes ten — AVN awards, Double Feature is an enigma among adult features.

must say that Double Feature contains some of the best acting and on-screen dialogue that I've ever witnessed in adult film. This film is in league with such classic spoofs as Mars Attacks and Plan 9 From Outer Space … it's easy to see why Serenity and Spears won awards for best acting, and why Morgan won for best director. Also of note is the humor. This is funny stuff! Genuinely humorous. For instance, when Spears drinks the alien-killing serum he proudly announces, "I'll give those bitches a blast of joy juice they'll never forget!" Likewise, the three stooges-like commandos bungle and trip over themselves like special Olympic dropouts. Don't miss this one!

Amusing yet drastically overrated

Jonathan Morgan has a fine track record in porn comedy, with this send-up of B movies his most acclaimed. But it doesn't live up to its rep, seen at a distance of over 20 years since release.

What I liked most was his black & white segments (movie turns to full color whenever the XXX action begins) that especially in fake trailers manage to capture the look and cliches of several 1950s and 1960s genres. Whether it be low-budget horror movies, or those pre-porn Sexploitation movies of the Joe Sarno era. I was less pleased with the frequent pirating of Harryhausen stop-motion footage from films like "Earth vs. the Flying Saucers".

The main film, presenting a pair of B pictures, aims at slapstick comedy and scores many a hit. Serenity is more than just a Wicked Pictures superstar but also adept at comic timing, while Randy Spears' usual overdoing things fits nicely with Morgan's "I can make Jerry Lewis seem subtle by comparison" approach. Less thrilling is letting loose the highly variable talent of Anthony Crane, who commands the screen way too often with his antics.
