"'Ne günstige Gelegenheit", which means "A good Opportunity" is a German 100-minute live action movie from 1999, so this one is almost 20 years old now and it is another work that proves that how great of a cinematographer Gernot Roll may be, directing simply isn't his strength, even if it is not among his most known career effort. But for writer Thomas Oliver Walendy, it may actually be among his most known works and be it only because quite a load of well-known German actors appear in this one. You never should or can take this film seriously to be honest. It is the epitome of a crime comedy that all the time goes way over the top in a pretty bad way though. If there is any perspective to appreciate it, maybe even enjoy it, then it would be as a guilty pleasure, but it is all so unrealistic and exaggerated and fake that even this approach is very difficult. Saying that, I think that 4 out of 10, is still a pretty generous rating as it wasn't half as funny as I wanted it to be and plot-wise it was close to disaster level at times. The characters may be entertaining, but most of the time not in a good way, and they certainloy aren't memorable. The music is off the mark too and the romance element present occasionally never works either. You don't care who will live and die and who will get together with whom, but you will predict it as it is a very foreseeable little movie. This one shows that coemdies back in the old millennium from Germany sucked too, even if it was for different reasons than it is today with M'Barek and especially Schweighöfer. If you are German, let me say that "Klamauk" (hullaballoo) is the perfect word to describe this one. It is loud, obnoxious and lacks structure, focus and good writing from start to finish. You really need to expect something very bad here in order to not see it as a failure as many times, this is exactly what this movie is. Major thumbs-down. Not recommended as it is also way too long for its own good. Watch something else instead unless you really love at least 2 of the actors in here. My suggestion is to skip it.
