This was the second part of a trilogy of 3 prime time soap operas written by the late Lise Payette, helped by her daughter Sylvie. The first one was "La Bonne Aventure" which dealt with women in their 30s, this series was about women in their 40s, and the third, "Un signe de feu", was a crossover of both series. All were quite popular due to fact that all series talked about women's rights for affirmation against a world once ruled by men.
The comedy troupe "Rock et Belles Oreilles" parodied this series with changing the title as "Des Deux de Pique" (transalted as Two of Spades, the lowest card in the deck). They mostly focused on Jean-Paul's character (being nasty and sexy) and Evelyn's serving coffee all the time... Jean-Paul was portrayed by Yves Pelletier and Evelyne by Guy A.Lepage. One then-member of this comic group, Chantal Francke, did a cameo in the real series.
Due to a commitment to another French CBC drama series in 1987, actor Raymond Bouchard was replaced in the role of "Roger" by the late Pierre Gobeil starting on Season 2 and 3, as well as the sequel, Un Signe de Feu.
As the series was rebroadcasted under French CBC's ICI ARTV channel, as per Sept 30th 2021 with the death of Andrée Boucher, all 4 ladies starring in their main role are no more. For the men, it's a different story as only Michel Dumont and Pierre Gobeil (Roger, on the 2nd and 3rd season) died, all three others (Gibert Sicotte, Raymond Bouchard as Roger from 1st season and Pierre Curzi) are still alive as when this article is written.
Three actresses portraying secondary characters, Monique Leyrac (Laurence Trudel), Louise Forestier (Jeanne Valois) and Dorothée Berryman (Julie Bastien) are accomplished signers.
