Konami's best-selling horror video game franchise Silent Hill has been optioned for the big screen by Davis Films, with Samuel Hadida set to produce. Helmer Christophe Gans, whose credits include Brotherhood of the Wolf and Crying Freeman, will direct. The film will be a collaboration between the Japanese game maker and Davis Films. There are three Silent Hill games on the market, having sold a total of more than 4 million units worldwide. The Mature-rated games thrust players into a nightmarish world filled with grotesque creatures, dark rooms and lots of gore.
