- The version aired on TV, in the U.S., on the Sci-FI channel, silences the profanity and cuts away right before the death sequences.
- In Ontario the film was originally Restricted (18 years or over). Hopping to catch the lucrative teen market Canadian distributor Alliance Atlantis removed several seconds of graphic gore a week after the film's release to lower the rating to Adult Accompaniment (under 14 must be accompanied by an adult). The cuts were waived for the video release with the 'restricted' rating restored.
- There was an alternate ending filmed where Alex Browning gets decapitated by a stray rudder from a downed police helicopter.
- The DVD features the following deleted scenes:
- A love scene between Alex (Devon Sawa) and Clear (Ali Larter) on the beach.
- A pregnancy test which reveals that Clear is pregnant from having sex with Alex.
- A third ending where Alex is electrocuted and dies. After having their child, Clear has the gift of seeing "death" before it happens. Carter also survives.
