The plot was based on a previously written radio soap opera by Janete Clair, which in turn had been inspired by a newspaper classified ad that announced: "A Bridal Veil for Sale".
The race car character and the 'Fórmula 1' background story were deliberately inserted in the plot as an ingenious plan to cross-promote the races and Brazilian driver Emerson Fittipaldi, who was proving successful in the competition. Some scenes were shot at racetracks and later included a special guest appearance of driver Jackie Stewart.
To solve the plot's legal guardian dispute, a real trial was held on set, by a real judge (Eliézer Rosa), who set up a jury. Therefore, the telenovela's ending was in the hands of the judge's verdict and not even the author, actors, or the director himself knew in advance what the outcome would be and the story's final direction. To preserve real emotions and reactions, the scene was shot without rehearsals and in one take, so the actresses' tensions were therefore totally real.
Around the thirtieth episode, Geraldo Del Rey (Luciano) asked to leave the production because he had been invited to work at Tupi TV. From this moment on, Janete Clair began the long series of famous murders on Brazilian telenovelas, with the "who done it?" cliffhangers. The character's departure did not create any further problems and, on the contrary, it served to create the famous catchphrase and to increase viewership across the country.
