As of this writing, it has been over two days since Future and Metro Boomin dropped their first full-length collaboration, We Don’t Trust You, and it has almost been completely overshadowed by a Kendrick Lamar cameo. The track on which he appears, “Like That,” prominently features Rodney O and Joe Cooley’s 1987 single “Everlasting Bass,” and Metro uses it like Three 6 Mafia did throughout their discography, from “Where Da Bud At” to “Who the Crunkest.” Thanks in part to the Mafia, “Everlasting Bass” has become an avatar of Jheri-curled hardness,...

Puddle of Mudd will return with a new album titled Ubiquitous on September 8th. In advance of the LP, the band has unveiled the single “My Baby.”
In recent years, frontman Wes Scantlin has made more headlines for his legal troubles and onstage meltdowns than his music, but Puddle of Mudd keep chugging along. Ubiquitous will serve as the follow-up to 2019’s Welcome to Galvania, which had marked the band’s first album in 10 years.
In a brief statement, Scantlin said, “Fans can expect another really catchy, hooky record from Puddle of Mudd!”
The single “My Baby” is indeed hooky, with a clear Nirvana influence in the verses. Scantlin infamously delivered a woeful cover of Nirvana’s “About a Girl” a few years ago, later admitting that the performance “looked and sounded like total shit.”
Puddle of Mudd have a smattering of US shows coming up throughout the next few months.

Hayley in Wonderland has a nice ring to it. In the music video for Paramore’s latest single, “Running Out of Time,” from This Is Why, frontwoman Hayley Williams slips into a guitar case that doubles as a portal, desperate to get away from the studio instruments that have somehow come to life and grown ten times their original size.
When Williams emerges on the other side, it’s in a vibrantly colored world where the time-related anxieties she sings about in the song don’t necessarily disappear, but she...

Contrary to the name of the track Paramore performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live Tuesday night, the band made it to the late-night stage without any schedule-related issues, rocking out to “Running Out of Time” in a rather timely manner.
“Never mind, I hit the snooze on my alarm twenty times/But I was just so tired,” Hayley Williams sighed dramatically while singing, worn out from recalling all of the tasks she meant to complete but never got around to. “There was traffic, spilled my coffee, crashed my car, otherwise/Woulda been here on time.

“War’s on the side of the planet/ And I’ve got a war right behind my eyes,” yelps Hayley Williams on Paramore’s sixth album. Exorcising the angst of 2022 to an elasticated post-punk beat, the 33-year-old frontwoman speaks to the struggle of many “safe, privileged” Westerners to find “a balance between apathy and righteous rage”. She continues: “I worry and I give money and I feel useless behind this computer and that’s just barely scratched the surface of my mind…”

What’s the rush? ? Hayley Williams refuses to race against the clock on Paramore’s latest song, “Running Out of Time.” The band premiered the track during an album release show in Nashville ahead of their upcoming album This is Why, out Friday, Feb. 10.
“This is a song about how I’m always late to everything,” Williams told the audience at the Grand Ole Opry. “It’s really not that deep unless you want to think about the planet dying. Then it can be that deep.”

I confess, I don’t know as much of the work of the revered Johnnie To as I should. I remember seeing Election when it came out in UK cinemas, but I’m not sure that I’ve got round to anything else, so this latest set from Eureka should prove something of an education.

Cheung (Andy Lau) is dying. With just weeks left, he decides to play a game with Police and a local gangster, with the objective of stealing both a valuable necklace and the 5million the gangsters are willing to pay for it. Inspector Ho (Ching Wan Lau) is assigned to the case, and he and Leung develop a relationship of respect as adversaries.

HONG KONG -- Breaking News director Johnnie To is set to produce the first film to roll from cable operator i-Cable Communications' new movie production subsidiary. The $2 million police thriller will be helmed by new director Yau Nai-hoi, who has previously scripted many of To's award-winning movies such as Running Out of Time and PTU. I-Cable Communications, a subsidiary of leading pay TV operator Cable Television, is set to invest $38.5 million in a two-year plan to produce between 10 and 15 movies through the yet-to-be-named production banner. I-Cable, which owns three movie channels, has previously invested in films produced by other production companies such as Universe Films and China Star. This marks the first time that the company will venture into movie production. Edko Films -- owned by House of Flying Daggers and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon producer Bill Kong -- will handle local theatrical distribution as well as overseas sales for the productions.
