A realistic portrayal of complications of lovers' lives.
whmwla-223 June 2000
This is the movie Kubrick should have made about realistic portrayals of the complications of lovers' lives. There is a keen insight of what love really is, temptations, sense of betrayal, calculated thoughts about revenge, and realistic resolution of conflicts. Yes, love triumphs, but in a realistic manner. Fine performances by actors who are not typical Hollywood types. And there is a real storyline, not just MTV impressions. Good original music. Sound quality in the movie is a bit uneven, but only a minor distraction. May be too good for the American market. See it to compare how an "indie" with creativity can compare favorably against Hollywood's high budget backgrounds and elaborate costume rituals.
