Kathleen Herles, the original voice of Nickelodeon’s Dora the Explorer series, returns as Mami, the mother of Dora (Diana Zermeño) as she is joined on rainforest adventures by her best monkey friend, Boots, voiced by Asher Colton Spence, and Map (Anairis Quiñones).

Noggin is shuttering. The Nickelodeon subscription-based streaming app will shut down after Paramount Global laid off the entire team behind the platform. According to Kidscreen, the service which houses titles ranging from Blue’s Clues and Dora the Explorer to Paw Patrol and Peppa Pig is going to move its programming over Paramount+ under the Nick Jr. banner. Targeting the two-to-seven-year-old demo, Noggin had 2.5 million subscribers as of 2019, four years after its launch in 2015. The service housed over a thousand educational games, videos, and books in its digital library. Some of this content will go without a home when Noggin ceases to exist. (Credit: Nickelodeon Network / Courtesy: Everett Collection) As mentioned, above, Nick Jr. titles will move over to Paramount+ along with some third-party acquired titles like JoJo and Gran Gran and Little Bear. For the time being, Noggin will no longer accept new subscribers and there will be a transitional period for pre-existing subscribers.

Noggin, Paramount Global’s interactive learning subscription service for preschoolers, is shutting down, sources tell Deadline. The Nick Jr.-affiliated app is slated to sunset this year, with the majority of its staff let go in the latest round of layoffs at Paramount Global on Tuesday that impacted about 800 U.S. employees.
As Noggin stops taking new subscribers, there will be a transition period for current ones. Noggin predated Paramount Global’s flagship streamer Paramount+, which has been carrying Noggin’s video content under the Nick Jr. preschool brand.
The development comes almost a year after Paramount reportedly explored a sale of a majority stake in Noggin as the company shifted priorities — and resources — to Paramount+ and Pluto TV.
Noggin was co-founded by Nickelodeon parent MTV Networks and Sesame Workshop and originally launched Feb. 2, 1999 as a cable television channel and a companion website focused on imagination, creativity, and education.

Let’s be honest, we’ve seen the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers go head-to-head at the Super Bowl, but what’s always fresh and new are ads that air during the commercial breaks.
From Michael Cera’s partnership with CeraVe to a “Suits” reunion in Judge Judy’s courtroom, there’s truly nothing you can plan to expect from the lineup of Super Bowl commercials. Well, except for maybe another Ben Affleck-Dunkin’ Donuts collaboration, which is now a fan favorite. And who could blame him, the actor was reportedly paid $10 million for his 30-second spot he’s slated to appear in this year.
When the game isn’t on, the Super Bowl commercials keep you occupied and entertained. While some have already aired, there are many more to come as fans lead up to kickoff off on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. Est.

With all due respect to “The Good Fight,” the new Paramount+ Super Bowl spot starring Patrick Stewart may be the finest thing Paramount+ has ever done.
The one-minute, 58-second “Hail Patrick” ad, from creative agency Droga5, is the 15th commercial in the “A Mountain of Entertainment” series. Paramount+ first introduced “Paramount Mountain” three years ago at Super Bowl Lv; Stewart was waiting for his colleagues at the summit back then.
Those ads were…not great — but “Hail Patrick” undoubtedly is. In it, Stewart is in the trenches at base camp but still the group’s leader, which tees up a double meaning to the commercial’s title.
We open on Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa attempting to toss a grappling hook to the top of Paramount Mountain. It falls a bit short. This is, after all, a mountain of entertainment; it is no easy task.

Today, Disney+ and Hulu unleashed a new take on R.L. Stine's beloved "Goosebumps" book series with a TV series adaptation developed by Rob Letterman (director of the 2015 "Goosebumps" movie) and Nicholas Stoller. Trust me when I say you'll want to give this series a chance, because it takes the scares to a more mature level than we've seen in previous "Goosebumps" adaptations and injects it with a refreshing and genuine teenage perspective, both in comedy and horror.
For those who maybe haven't been keeping up, the new "Goosebumps" series follows a group of five high schoolers as they embark on a shadowy and twisted journey to investigate the tragic passing three decades earlier of a teen named Harold Biddle — while also unearthing dark secrets from their parents' past.

The Scpr board has started a search for Scannell’s replacement. “Herb has helped accomplish precisely what we hoped when he joined us four years ago,” Drew Murphy, chair of the Board of Trustees of Scpr, said in a statement. Shelter is the newest addition to the on-screen Harlan Coben Universe. A Young Adult-skewing eight-part thriller, it’s the story of high schooler Mickey Bolitar, who’s recently moved from overseas to his dad’s hometown of Kasselton, New Jersey, where he and his new friends investigate the disappearance of a fellow student. Like any Harlan Coben series, it takes place in a heightened world peopled by memorable villains, shock twists, cliff-hangers, and mysteries that change shape multiple times before they’re solved.
Mickey Bolitar is the star of three novels by Coben – a spin-off trilogy from his hit 11-part book series about Mickey’s uncle Myron Bolitar. Netflix has the rights to that character, so don’t expect to find an actor playing him in the cast rundown below. Here’s more on the actors telling this story.

Though strike guidelines prevent actors who participate in conventions this summer from promoting most of their work, it turns out that hasn’t lessened the experience. In fact, several actors told us at FanExpo Chicago over the weekend, their interactions with fans at cons have become more “meaningful.”
“One of the biggest things that we wanted to make sure [of] in our negotiating committee, when we were talking about the cons, is we wanted to make sure that we didn’t chastise the actors, or chastise the fans, because of what the big business is doing,” Michelle Hurd, “Star Trek: Picard” actress and SAG’s Los Angeles VP explained to TheWrap. “So we wanted to maintain this relationship.”
But that relationship hasn’t just been maintained, Hurd said, it’s arguably improved — and she hasn’t been the only one who’s noticed.

With Super Bowl Lvii on the horizon, Paramount+ is giving everyone an early look at an upcoming promo. (Welcome to My Most Ridiculous Note, a series of interviews in which animators talk about the weirdest and funniest notes they received from studio executives.)
"El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera" was a superhero show unlike any other in the mid-2000s: an action-packed animated series with a distinct visual style and a nuanced character with a moral dilemma at its center. It was also the first Flash-animated cartoon on Nickelodeon, and found brilliant and dynamic ways to use that tool.
Jorge R. Gutiérrez has quickly become one of the most interesting voices in animation working today. He brings his experience and a sense of cultural specificity to his work and explores many different genres and tones, whether it's superheroes in "El Tigre," musical romance in "The Book of Life," or epic fantasy in "Maya and the Three."

Keegan-Michael Key’s substitute teacher Mr. Garvey, one of the signature characters from former Comedy Central sketch series Key & Peele, has returned to the head of the class to promote Paramount+.
The streaming service has booked a 60-second spot during tomorrow’s Thanksgiving Day NFL telecast for the plug (watch it above). The synergistic promo features Mr. Garvey atop “Paramount Mountain,” reprising the gag from the show in which he mispronounces every name on the attendance sheet, browbeating students into agreeing with his aggressive malaprops. Instead of human students, most of those with speaking lines (apart from NFL player Aaron Donald) are animated characters from Paramount/Nickelodeon shows like Big Nate, Blaze and the Monster Machines, Dora the Explorer and Blue’s Clues.

Growing up, I wanted to live in Teletubbyland. Now, Netflix is giving viewers the chance to go back when it reboots the classic kids show on Nov. 14.
When I was a child, my parents played me VHS tapes of “Teletubbies” nearly every morning in our living room. As the sun baby giggled on screen, I would begin to hop up and down, ready to dance to the theme song and chant, “Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa, Po.” When the Teletubbies huddled together for their big hug, I joined them by wrapping my arms around our box television set.
I adored these cuddly, colorful characters. From frolicking in the hills to gobbling up Tubby Toast, I tried to mimic the same routine as the Teletubbies.
My parents would take me to a park in my hometown, where I imagined I was in Teletubbyland by searching for rabbits and rolling down hills until my clothes turned green.

Ramsey Naito has been running Nickelodeon Animation since 2017, and in that time the network’s programming has exploded with a raft of both homegrown series and adaptations of external IP. “Star Trek,” “SpongeBob,” “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” “Blue’s Clues,” “Dora the Explorer,” “Rugrats”… if that seems like too much for one network to handle, well, it no longer has to.
Last fall, Naito added running Paramount Animation to her docket, and since then, the scope of potential programming across the corporate-partnered Nickelodeon networks, Paramount+ and Paramount theatrical has given the network increased space to expand. “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” — the Seth Rogen-produced feature spun off from Nick’s revamped “Turtles” animated series — is due out next summer. Nickelodeon feature films from “Paw Patrol,” “Blue’s Clues” and “Baby Shark” are also on the horizon, as well as new features from Paramount properties “Transformers” and “Smurfs.” For Naito, this glut of programming presents opportunities.

Monday Am: Writethru after Sunday Am post — As Illumination/Universal’s Minions: The Rise of Gru clinches an Independence Day 4-day opening record of 125.1M, the movie’s success this weekend should come as a reminder to many executives, both motion picture and streaming, as well as Wall Street, about the power of the big screen.

A kid named Lucky loses her mother, moves to the frontier with her father and befriends a wild mustang in “Spirit Untamed.” While experienced professionals fail to break the strong-willed stallion, Lucky (who has never ridden a horse) feeds it a few apples, and before long, the youngster has tamed the obstinate animal — which is inconsistent with this cheap and all-around lazy animated movie’s title, but chalk that up to marketing.
While Disney churns out live-action remakes of its most popular cartoons, DreamWorks Animation has another strategy: For every modestly successful theatrical release, it spins off an episodic TV series to Netflix or Nickelodeon to keep the characters alive and the merch in demand.

Photo: 'Big Mouth'/Netflix Animated adult TV: Maybe the title of this article is a misnomer because there wasn’t much of a naissance beforehand. Back in the 60s, there was The Flintstones and The Jetsons which are technically considered “adult sitcoms” but this was during the time that saying that Lucille Ball was pregnant was considered too risqué. So, adult TV was those considered anything more raunchy than Mr. Rogers. I’m sure Dora would be considered adult TV back in the day. But, my friends, I am glad to say that times have changed and we’ve gone from a happy family sliding down the tails of dinosaurs to a grandfather drinking something a little stronger than Flintstone’s cereal milk from a flask while cursing out his grandson during interdimensional travel. Welcome to a brave new world of animated raunchiness. I will be your tour...

Close to two decades after “Dora the Explorer” premiered on Nickelodeon, a wave of animated projects that put Latinx characters front and center has made its way to the small screen. From Disney Jr.’s Latina princess show “Elena of Avalor” and Guillermo del Toro’s “Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia” trilogy at Netflix, to Nickelodeon’s family sitcom “The Casagrandes” and Cartoon Network’s adventure show “Victor and Valentino,” there is a growing roster of projects that explore the diversity of Latin American cultures.
These shows are driven, in part, by what “The Book of Life” director Jorge Gutiérrez calls the “Dora” generation, an entire swath of creators who grew up seeing a Latina central character as a normal thing. Gutiérrez, who’s working on an ambitious Mesoamerican fantasy epic limited series entitled “Maya and the Three” for Netflix, believes these strides are indicative of a belated shift in the industry at large.

The apocalyptic and dystopian TV shows have been incredibly popular in recent years, and we can see why. Everything about drama has been headed in an extreme direction for some time. Superhero battles last twenty minutes on movies, kids shows like Dora the Explorer and Pokemon are getting more grown-up reimaginings, and even zombies have gone from cult status to full-blown cultural phenomenon. So it’s no surprise that a great show like The 100 has been so beloved. When fans learned that the seventh season would be the end of the story, they were devastated even though it’s not yet
