The Edelweiss Pirates (German:Edelweißpiraten) were a loosely organized nonconformist youth group in Nazi Germany. They consisted of young people, aged 14 to 17. They dropped out of school, avoided joining the Hitler Youth, and were too young for conscription into the Wehrmacht. They rejected the authoritarianism of Nazi Germany, helped military deserters, and often supported Allied efforts in World War II.
The film takes place in November 1944.
