- The widower land-lord fixes his wayward step-brother's alliance with priest's daughter. Groom disappears on wedding day, and he is forced to marry her. The brother comes back and when the elder brother dies, tries to dispossess the widow.
- A complex story of two Land-lord step brothers. The elder brother Sati (Soumitra), widower with a small son, manages the property with help of his Nayeb, Dinu (Jahar Ganguli). The younger, step-brother Rati is in clutches of a crook family, Mother (Renuka), Uncle (Jahar) and daughter Menaka (Shamita). To bring him in correct path, Sati fixes his wedding with the local priest-teacher's daughter Mahashweta (Anjana). On the eve of nuptial, Rati disappears and later comes back with his wife, Menaka and her family. Disgraced priest dies of heart attack and the widow and daughter disappears, before Sati could do something. Menaka and her family creates havoc at home with Rati too working with them. Sati puts his son in a hostel and goes to pilgrimage for mental peace. In Kashi he meets his aunt, and finds that's where Shweta and her mother had put up. Aunt was already aware of the whole thing, and now finding Rati has already married, forces Sati to marry Shweta. They come home and Shweta had the child, who had accepted his new mother unconditionally, be brought home. Unaware to Shweta and Sati, Sati's lawyer was Nirmal, an ex-freedom fighter, her very close but not boyfriend. He was the priest's best friend's son - he had a weakness for her, but for her he was a brother. He frequents the home and Rati starts spreading rumor about them. Sati dies of an heart attack. Rati claims in the court as the sole heir, casting doubts not only on Shweta's character but also on the proof of her marriage with Sati. Nirmal, her lawyer, is unable to prove the truth, with no witnesses for the temple marriage. Will she be thrown out on the road and the property fall in the hands of villains, who had hired goons and beaten up Nirmal very badly when a stage came that Rati could even lose the case. Who could now save her, when she is about to be physically dragged and thrown on the street? Nirmal had tried and was unconscious and thrown out.—S Basu
