Lovely musical comedy from dire times
suchenwi2 January 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Johannes Heesters shines in this cute musical rom-com as music teacher in a girls boarding school, who, urged by his aunt (and principal) arranges a pretended marriage with the director of a night-club, so that both are no more troubled by suitors. Hilarious complications ensue..

The different moralities of schools and night-clubs are light-heartedly confronted (which in Der Blaue Engel ended in bitter tragic), often in song & dance numbers, notably "Sowas tun die Herrn immer wieder gern". Some plot elements from "Feuerzangenbowle" are also added. Costumes sometimes amount to bikinis, which might have made this film shocking in 1951...

Helga Feddersen plays one of the school-girls in her very first movie role - already well recognizable. Outside location seems to be Meersburg/Bodensee, and a ferry boat between school and city is often shown.

Sceptical at first, this film soon won me over with its "ancient" lightweight entertainment, and I really had good fun.
