Davey is a young dreamer. One day a group of surfers come to the local coastal town with their high tech surf boards and their west coast music. Davey catches the bug; but this is the west coast of Ireland, not the other sun baked west coast of America. Davy's dad just has no time for surfing and believes his son would be better working on the farm. Davy hatches a plan to escape from both Ireland and his father. He will surf to freedom, yes surf, but America is a long way away.
