Originally, WWF owner Vince McMahon wanted the main event to be Hulk Hogan vs. Zeus for the WWF Championship. According to Tom Lister Jr., these plans were nixed when Hogan refused to drop the title to Zeus, thus causing The Ultimate Warrior to be placed into the main event slot with Hogan instead.
