The theme music used in the opening credits of this film was originally composed by R.D. Burman for the film "Joshila" (1973). This theme has been used for the opening credits of many other films, including films in which R.D. Burman was not the music director.
This film opened with a profuse apology to the police. A line from the apology read - "We deeply regret the wrong portrayal which is due to our over-enthusiasm and we offer our profound apologies to the police forces of the country for the misrepresentation of their role.".
Aaja Mere Pyar Aaja from Heeralal Pannalal..R.D. Burman adapted the tune of this song's mukhda to compose the "Jalpari Theme" for the background score of "Saagar" (1985). The theme also formed the basis of the song "Aaja Aaja Meri Jaan" ("Aaja Meri Jaan", 1993) sung by S.P. Balasubramaniam, and the Bengali song "Tumi Kato Je Dure" he sang with Asha Bhosle for a Pujo album.
The song "Kahiyen Kahan Se Aana Hua" from Heeralal Pannalal was inspiration for the guitar intro for the song "Kaho Kahan Chalein" from Bulundi and guitar tune in the song "Chand Koi Hoga Tumse Kahan" from Inaam Dus Hazaar.
The film was delayed for 3 years due to Shashi Kapoor not giving dates.
