Sujata Mehta's Pratighaat is better.

Haqeeqat (1985) review :

Frankly I had never heard of this movie and it was after reading my Pratighaat review that a friend mentioned this film having similar theme to the Sujata Mehta starrer.

As I watched it today, I could indeed find a lot of similarities between the two movies in terms of its basic theme - a woman avenging her humiliation by killing off her tormentors. While the fiery Sujata Mehta axed Charan Raaj in Pratighaat (1987), Jaya Prada uses her archery skills to terminate her rapists.

Having said that, Haqeeqat's treatment is not at all women centric as Pratighaat and the main focus is on Jeetendra who is a honest cop fighting the corrupt system. Mohan Bhandari had played the same role in Pratighaat. Jaya Prada has the smaller role and comes in forefront only in the climax.

Acting wise, Sujata Mehta is leagues ahead of Jaya Prada if we compare their similar roles. Jeetu is earnest as the police inspector. But overall, Haqeeqat is an average fare if compared to Pratighaat. On stand alone basis, it is a one time watch for 80s kids.

Regards, Sumeet Nadkarni.

Nothing exciting in the film, please ignore.

Haqeeqat is an action film directed by Tatineni Rama Rao. The film stars Jeetendra, Jaya Prada, Raj Babbar, Swapna, Bindu, Prem Chopra, Late Sujit Kumar, late Om Shivpuri, Bharat Kapoor, Asrani and Late Nilu Phule.

An honest police officer, makes influential enemies in his department and amongst corrupt politicians when he brings law and order to his region.

I haven't such much action films of Jeetendra and was excited to watch this film but was disappointed to the core. The film has nothing exciting and entertaining with boring screenplay, over the top acting, forgettable songs and poorly executed climax. In my opinion please avoid this film as there is nothing exciting in the film.

Warning: Spoilers
a very violent film its very hard to get hold of as it never been released on d.v.d . the story centers around a very brave police officer he fight,s all kinds of thugs and goons. as the movies starts to unravel we realize that there are corrupt people in all establishments from doctors to police men in higher ranking positions . one of the most violent and horrific scene is wen a woman is raped very violently then flowers are thrown on her face as she lays there passed out from the horrific ordeal . as she lays there in a daze thinking the worst is over a thug walks over her and stabs her very violently several times . in this film the good people get every injustice thrown at them . even at the end of the movie the gang of villains which consist of a member of a prime minister , a lawyer , a very respected hospital doctor and the high in command of the police force pour acid on a wide gaping wound or shall i say a very large cut as they hold jetendre down on the hospital bed he screams as the acid burns his flesh and wound , poor old pregnant jaya pradha looks on in shock.

a unique movie!

i watched this movie in 1988 and i loved it.in all my 30 years of followership of Hindi movies, it's the first film that an Indian star will go fully martial. it's another plus for jeetu as a trend setter in bollywood. he did a good justice to that climax scene where he confronted those bad guys working for prem chopra - he fought like he had never fought before. that fight scene lasted for about 5 minutes; and jeetu thrilled me unbelievably. i can't imagine how long it would have taken him to train and perfect those martial art techniques and thrills. he always gave his best in his films. as a matter of fact, jeetu has over the years convinced me as the best in fight scenes in Hindi movie world. he displays the intrigues of the king of action films. i later got the hint that the film did not achieve a box office success. however, jeetu and jaya prada did creditably well in their roles. jeetu is wonderful as ever.
