A sweet little coming of age film that took me by surprise

Warning: Spoilers
This film is set in the mid 1960s when the narrator was 13 and went to cotillion class. Being forced to learn manners and how to dance usually is pretty painful for boys, but he learns to love the class very quickly thanks to a beautiful instructor. The boy was clearly smitten and had a serious crush on this impossibly older lady.

In many ways, this short film reminded me of an episode of "The Wonder Years" or the movie A Christmas STORY because like them, this film features an adult narrating about a period in his life long ago and there is a very strong nostalgic component to it. However, in one fundamental way, it differed. Again and again, I expected some sort of funny twist or moment of ultimate embarrassment for the teen in the story and it never came. Now this is NOT a complaint. On the contrary, I liked how the film maintained its sweet innocence--even once the young man came to realize that his dream girl wasn't exactly like he'd envisioned her.

Exceptional throughout--the acting, the direction, the mood and the nice script. Great job by all.
