Jennifer Love Hewitt was one of the biggest teen stars of the nineties. First making a splash on Party of Five, she parlayed that success into a solid career in features, leading the teen horror slasher classic I Know What You Did Last Summer (as well as its less beloved sequel), the comedy cult classic Can’t Hardly Wait. Her fame carried over into the 2000s, with her showing impeccable comic timing in the underrated Heartbreakers opposite Sigourney Weaver, Gene Hackman, and the late Ray Lotta. She even teamed up with Jackie Chan in The Tuxedo. She also starred in not one but two Garfield movies (in which Bill Murray voiced the titular feline) and also had a role opposite Anthony Hopkins and Alec Baldwin in the notoriously troubled Shortcut to Happiness, in which she played a sexy version of the devil.
Arguably, her greatest fame came on the small screen...

Banks is sharing some of the first lyrics she wrote as she sings to an ex-love. On Monday, the Serpentina singer released the coquettish, yet melancholic music video for the ballad “I Still Love You.”
“I don’t know your bruises or where you’ve been lately/But I know I still love you,” she sings. The stripped-back video — co-directed by Banks and James Mountford — follows the singer as she sings the track’s lyrics, along with the sounds of a soft piano, to the camera.

“You know when you have cheerleaders that just want what’s good for you?” asks Banks. “This is what’s good for me.”
It took a pandemic lockdown filled with “isolation in the best way possible” for Banks to shed her old skin and learn to live life in the present moment. It was in that process, where the singer finally took full control of her music and artistry, that she created Serpentina. The singer’s upcoming album arrives April 8 and it’s available for preorder.

Boasting a vintage 1930s 2D visual style and packed with wacky antics, “The Cuphead Show!” is the latest addition to Netflix’s burgeoning animation slate. The 12-episode series, based on the hugely popular run-and-gun game from Studio Mdhr, follows the adventures of brothers Cuphead and Mugman as they hop out of the frying pan and into the fire only to land on their feet ready for more high-octane escapades.
The reckless and impulsive Cuphead, voiced by Tru Valentino, is tempered somewhat by his cautious and slightly neurotic brother Mugman (Frank Todaro), while Elder Kettle (Joe Hanna) is the patient guardian who ensures order in their snug little cottage on Inkwell Isle. Luke Millington-Drake voices the duo’s nemesis, The Devil, with Wayne Brady pitching in as the voice of the Cab Calloway–styled big band leader King Dice, and Grey Griffin as the noir-inflected Ms. Chalice.

Devil worshippers are running amuck in Greece, haven’t you heard? This Greek-English horror show stars Peter Cushing and Donald Pleasance, so it can claim a built-in fan interest factor whether it’s good or bad. It’s fun to check out just to see what these stars got themselves into for a paycheck, back when Hammer was calling it quits and quality roles for U.K. pros were few and far between. Even Michael Powell’s name gets dropped in connection to this ‘shocker,’ which we saw here in the states under the title Land of the Minotaur. The pagan Minotaur god is no Bullwinkle J. Moose: he demands that all trespassers in his pagan temple die, and possessed kids are doing the killing.

Netflix announced a new first look deal with Magic Quill Productions, the new writers’ collective formed by writers and executive producers Joe Henderson, Georgia Lee and Matt Owens.
As a production company, Magic Quill will prioritize writers while centering high concept genre stories. The company aims to empower writers and train future showrunners with a focus on platforming diverse, underrepresented voices.
Henderson recently served as showrunner and executive producer on “Lucifer,” which Netflix picked up from Fox after three seasons to run another three seasons. In the series, Lucifer Morningstar, the Devil (Tom Ellis), gets tired of living in Hell and instead opens a nightclub in Los Angeles. Lee currently showruns and executive produces “Partner Track,” Netflix’s upcoming adaptation of Helen Wan’s novel of the same name. Owens is a writer and executive producer on “One Piece,” Netflix’s live action adaptation of the longest-running manga series in Japanese history.

Don Lee, who stars as an Asian superhero in Marvel’s “Eternals,” will next be seen at the head of Korean franchise movie “The Roundup.”
The film is a sequel to “The Outlaws,” a 2017 crime actioner that took $51 million at the Korean box office. That performance confirmed Lee’s star status, which had been freshly minted with his role in the previous year’s zombie action sensation “Train to Busan.”
Lee, who is alternatively credited as Ma Dong-seok, was born in Seoul, but was educated in Ohio and is a naturalized U.S. citizen. His acting career, which has almost entirely been in Korea, has frequently involved tough-guy roles. But a cheeky persona and a quick wit have earned him an army of diehard fans. “Eternals” is his first mainstream Hollywood role.
In “The Roundup,” Lee reprises his role as “Beast Cop” Ma Seok-do who heads to a foreign country to extradite a suspect.

There’ll be no room for idle hands when production begins on Ursula Dabrowsky’s The Devil’s Work in South Australia.
The third film in her Demon Trilogy will be filmed across just five nights in December, as opposed to the two weeks it took to shoot predecessor Inner Demon in 2012 and the four-week schedule for 2009’s Family Demons.
Headlining the cast are two leads from the previous films, Cassandra Kane and Sarah Jeavons, who play feuding sisters in a story that chronicles a young couple’s weekend away at a remote cottage. What begins as a romantic escape soon turns into a harrowing fight for survival as they are terrorised by an unhinged, homicidal sibling.
They are joined by Mark Fantasia (The Tourist) who has returned to Adelaide after an eight-year stint in Los Angeles.

On tonight’s Halloween episode of Saturday Night Live, Jason Sudeikis returned to Weekend Update to reprise his role as The Devil, catching co-anchor Colin Jost up on the latest in his life.
Jost noted that it has been four or five years since The Devil last graced the desk at Studio 8H. “It’s because I’ve been busy, baby,” Sudeikis’ Devil said. “The last few years have been pretty good for old Beelzebub here.”
The Devil noted that he’s had many “little side projects” to keep him busy, including “earthquakes,” “killer storms” and an “Instagram for kids” he’s been “trying to get…off the ground.”
Then, of course, there’s the climate. “I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I’ve been making things up here feel more like where I’m from,” said The Devil. “I mean, have you ever been to Florida?...

Jason Sudeikis reprised the role of Vice President Joe Biden in the “Saturday Night Live” cold open alongside James Austin Johnson’s President Joe Biden.
President Biden lamented the “ice cold Psaki bomb” that his recent CNN town hall received very low viewership while his approval rating was down singnificantly. “I don’t understand,” he said. “People used to like me. The press would call me ‘Uncle Joe.’ I miss the old me. Where the hell did that guy go?”
That’s when Sudeikis’ Vice President Biden from 2013 joined the proceedings, with Sudeikis having played Biden during his time on the show before departing in 2013. He referred to being Vice President as the “easiest gig in the world. We’re like America’s whacky neighbor. Just pop in with an ice cream cone, some aviator shades, do finger guns. You know, shake a few hands, rub a few shoulders.”

This article contains The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It spoilers.
Though the latest Conjuring movie, The Devil Made Me Do It, is named after the Arne Johnson murder case, whereby a young man claimed the crime he committed was caused by demonic possession, there’s an entirely new subplot that carries the body of the new film.
After the supposedly possessed Arne Johnson is held in custody awaiting trial for the murder of his girlfriend’s landlord, paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga) are on a mission to discover how and why these possessions took place. While the Johnson case is based on real events, the reasons behind the possession, as posed within The Devil Made Me Do It, are completely fictional.

The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It at long last is scheduled to open in theaters and HBO Max on June 4, 2021.
The film reveals a chilling story of terror, murder and unknown evil that shocked even experienced real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. One of the most sensational cases from their files, it starts with a fight for the soul of a young boy, then takes them beyond anything they’d ever seen before, to mark the first time in U.S. history that a murder suspect would claim demonic possession as a defense.
Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson return to star as Lorraine and Ed Warren, under the direction of Michael Chaves (“The Curse of La Llorona”). The film also stars Ruairi O’Connor (Starz’ “The Spanish Princess”), Sarah Catherine Hook (Hulu’s “Monsterland”) and Julian Hilliard (the series “Penny Dreadful: city of Angels” and “The Haunting of Hill House...

When not making tons of money collaborating with James Stewart, Anthony Mann directed some really grim westerns. This mini-epic spells out the ugly real-life Code of The West: seizing land and establishing private empires. Walter Huston’s T.C. Jeffords maintains his sprawling fiefdom through economic tyranny (he prints his own money and expects banks to accept it) — and by simple violence, murdering the people that have lived on ‘his’ land for generations. Barbara Stanwyck is the feisty heir who wages generational war on her piratical father. It’s the darkest and most subversive of Huac-era ‘noir’ westerns.

The first post-nuclear science fiction thriller is a grim & gripping end-of-the-world tale with rough content for its year. Arch Oboler’s best movie watches as five motley survivors discover that their pre-apocalyptic prejudices have survived as well, precipitating a savage struggle in the shadow of doom. The filming was an artistic collaboration with established film theorists and their film-student disciples — call it ‘lyrical neorealism.’ For its world debut on Blu-ray, the atomic classic is given a new transfer and new extras.

Recently, short Best Actor-nominated performances have been scarce at the Oscars. The average screen time of the past decade’s nominees is over 80 minutes, and only a handful of them have not reached one hour. Still, performances that fall under 60 minutes make up nearly one third of the category’s nominees, with plenty boasting much less time. Here is a look at the 10 shortest of all (and here are the 10 shortest winners):
10. Humphrey Bogart (“The Caine Mutiny”)
28 minutes, 22 seconds (22.79% of the film)
Bogart’s third and final Best Actor nomination came in 1955 for his portrayal of tyrannical Naval commander Philip Queeg. Though he is absent from the first quarter of the film and appears on screen for less than 30 minutes, he was classified as a lead. In the decades since, several actors have also been placed in the lead category for relatively short villainous roles, including Michael Douglas (“Wall Street...

It is certainly not unusual for a long performance to win a Best Supporting Actor Oscar. The average screen time among winners in the category is 33 minutes and 45 seconds, and several even longer ones have been victorious in the past decade. However, awarding longer supporting male performances is not a recent trend. Here is a look at the 10 longest winners of all time. (And here’s the list of the 10 shortest winning performances for Best Supporting Actor.)
10. Walter Huston (“The Treasure of the Sierra Madre”)
55 minutes, 3 seconds (43.68% of the film)
On his fourth and final nomination in 1949, Walter Huston won his only Oscar for playing a wise, old prospector simply known as Howard. He broke the record for longest Best Supporting Actor-winning performance and held it for 16 years. His other nominated supporting role in “Yankee Doodle Dandy” is notably shorter, as is his Best Actor-nominated performance in “The Devil and Daniel Webster...

The new Netflix Original flick The Devil All the Time has been the talk of the town since its release last week, and for good reason, too. The exceptional period drama from director Antonio Campos tells an immensely compelling story of how trauma shapes families, legacies and the world as a whole, and it uses this subject to pose plenty of existential questions that may leave you wondering how exactly to process it all.
And though it’s an intriguing tale on its own, it’s the stellar cast that breathe so much life into the experience. Huge names such as Tom Holland, Bill Skarsgård and Robert Pattinson fill some of the movie’s most significant roles, but as an ensemble film, plenty of other faces show up throughout its 140 minute runtime, including one that originally wasn’t intended to be a part of the pic at all.

The film - which premiered on Netflix on Sept. 16 - follows a variety of violent and disturbed people from the end of World War II to the start of the Vietnam War. Told nonlinearly, their stories are woven together by the narration through chance meetings and circumstance. In order to fully understand The Devil All the Time's ending, we need to break down its premise, the preacher, the serial killers, and the shoot-out that brings everything full circle.

Tom Holland perfectly embodies the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Peter Parker because the two are incredibly similar in personality, both sharing a youthful enthusiasm and lovable demeanor. The young actor has only endeared himself to fans even more thanks to his reputation for accidentally giving away major spoilers and tales of how he’d drunkenly called former Disney CEO Bob Iger in an effort to save Spider-Man from heading back to Sony.
Of course, Holland will always find himself most closely associated with the web-slinging superhero, which isn’t surprising when you consider that five of his thirteen live-action movie appearances to date have been as Spider-Man. However, the 24 year-old looks to be making a conscious effort to branch out, and the Russo brothers are already touting awards season buzz for his role as a drug-addicted veteran with Ptsd that turns to bank robbery in their next directorial effort, Cherry.

Netflix‘s summer saw the arrival of splashy fantasy shows like Warrior Nun, Cursed and season 2 of The Umbrella Academy, while their original movies brought in huge viewing figures thanks to star-driven blockbusters such as Extraction, Spenser Confidential, The Old Guard and Project Power. “The Devil All the Time,” debuting Sept. 16 on Netflix, plunges viewers into the darkest recesses of damaged souls. There are blood sacrifices and serial killers, sexual deviants and false prophets, deranged fathers and murderous sons. Think Flannery O’Connor with a much higher body count. Director Antonio Campos, the acclaimed auteur behind “Christine,” returns with a cast of heavy hitters that includes Tom Holland as an orphan who can’t seem to escape his family’s violent past; Sebastian Stan as a cop on the take; Riley Keough and Jason Clarke as a couple with a sadistic hobby; and Robert Pattinson as a perverse priest. Campos spoke with Variety about why he adapted Donald Ray Pollock’s novel and what he’s missing about the movie business in the age of Covid-19.

Fans may have to wait until 2021 to see Robert Pattinson play the titular superhero in The Batman, but they can still get another taste of his acting chops in an upcoming psychological thriller. The flick also features McU alums Tom Holland and Sebastian Stan, along with Bill Skarsgård, Riley Keough, Jason Clarke, and more. And from the looks of it, it seems like a creepy romp through a shady town in post-World War II America.

In about a month’s time, Netflix is releasing one of its most anticipated movies of the year, The Devil All The Time, an intense psychological thriller from director Anthony Campos featuring an all-round incredible cast. In the lead is Spider-Man star Tom Holland, but his role here is nothing like the friendly neighborhood wall-crawler and you can now see the British actor as you’ve never seen him before in the first trailer for the film up above.
Based on the award-winning novel by Donald Ray Pollock (who provides the film’s narration), The Devil All The Time sees Holland joined by a host of A-list actors. Namely, Jason Clarke, Riley Keough, Sebastian Stan, Eliza Scanlen, Bill Skarsgård, Mia Wasikowska, Harry Melling, Haley Bennett and Robert Pattinson, in what looks to be a scene-stealing role as a twisted preacher. Tom Holland and Robert Pattinson are no doubt super busy working on their respective comic book movies right now, but in between donning their masks and spandex, they’ve found the time to shoot a new project for Netflix titled The Devil All The Time. The pic will hit the streaming platform next month and a bunch of first-look images have just been revealed ahead of its debut.
Both actors feature in the teaser photos, which were released via Entertainment Weekly, as do members of the supporting cast, including Terminator Genisys star Jason Clarke and Riley Keough of Mad Max: Fury Road fame, among others.
Directed by Antonio Campos, The Devil All The Time is set in America between the end of World War II and the beginning of the Vietnam War. It follows a motley group of characters whose lives intersect, with the story playing out through a multi-strand narrative.

Netflix are currently in the middle of one of their best years ever when it comes to original movies, and we’ve not even reached the end of July yet. Such is the company’s dominance in the streaming wars that even the critically-panned likes of The Last Days of American Crime, 365 Dni and Fatal Affair have still racked up tens of millions of viewers.
Despite all of them being released in the last four months, Spenser Confidential, Extraction and The Old Guard have already raced their way onto the list of Netflix’s ten most-watched original movies ever, while Spike Lee’s acclaimed Da 5 Bloods positioned itself as an early awards season contender. However, that’s barely the tip of the iceberg, and there are still plenty more high-profile originals set to arrive before 2020 is over, with some of them hailing from the biggest names in the business.
