For those hoping Doom Vfr was going to be Doom with a Vr headset, you're going to be sorely disappointed. While the game does appear to have the Vr and Doom elements with it, there are just some pitfalls I can't help but feel sap the fun out of the whole experience. Watch some of the video and continue on below:
First off, the movement is incredibly clunky. When you're not teleporting (something which many users reported to be difficult when using the custom rifle controller), you're moving forward like both of your legs are taped together and you have to hop. This is not the kind of fast-paced movement required to be successful and Doom, and to be frank, fast movement and strafing is a cornerstone of the franchise so why this idea was even conceived knowing it was not possible on Vr is beyond me.
Second, because the...

We've all seen the trailers for It, and they left us shivering with terror and anticipation for the new adaptation of the Stephen King novel. Now movie fans aren't the only ones scared by the upcoming horror movie. People who make a living working as real-life clowns are scared that they are going to lose more than a few hundred pennies thanks to Pennywise.
Last April King tweeted that the face-painted performers were "pissed at me. Sorry, most are great. But," he continued, "kids have always been scared of clowns. Don't kill the messengers for the message."
King was referring to the financial hits the legitimate clowning industry was suffering thanks to Pennywise the killer clown — just one of many forms taken by the evil entity referenced in the book's title.
The clowns are pissed at me. Sorry, most are great. But...kids have always been scared of clowns. Don't kill...

When Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency returns with new episodes this fall on BBC America, we'll see the return of familiar faces as well as plenty of new characters looking to either align themselves with or hunt down Dirk (Samuel Barnett) and Todd (Elijah Wood). At San Diego Comic-Con, Daily Dead had the opportunity to take part in roundtable interviews with returning cast members Barnett, Wood, Hannah Marks, and Jade Eshete, as well as new additions Alan Tudyk and Tyler Labine, to discuss what's to come in season 2.
What can we expect from season 2, especially your relationship with each other? Can we expect you to work better together or will we still get head-butting moments?
Elijah Wood: Yeah, there's actually been kind of a shift in regards to our relationship. In the first season, Todd is super reluctant to do anything that Dirk wants him to do, or to...

During her press conference on Friday, Griffin tearfully called President Donald Trump "a bully" while addressing the controversial photo shoot in which she posed with a bloodied replica of Trump's head.

"He's a bully," the 56-year-old comedian said of the president. "I've dealt with older, white guys trying to keep me down my whole life, my whole career. I'm a woman in a very male-dominated field. I love what I do, I love making people laugh more than anything in the world."
Following the coverage, Lovato took to Twitter and, without naming names, made a reference about people who put others down.
"I find it funny when bullies play the victims," the 24-year-old singer wrote, following the tweet with, "Oops. I spilled my tea. ☕️"

Jamie Foxx is weighing in on Kathy Griffin's controversial photo shoot, and sharing his thoughts on the importance of comedy in society.
The Oscar winner spoke with Et's Denny Directo at the launch party for Prive Revaux luxury sunglasses at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles on Thursday, where he opened up about the fallout surrounding Griffin's photo shoot, in which she held a facsimile of President Donald Trump's severed head.
"Listen, as comedians, sometimes you do go beyond, past the line," Foxx admitted. "I still love Kathy Griffin. She went past the line, she'll pay for it in the way she pays for it, and we'll go out and we'll laugh with her again."

Will's struggle with losing his mentor on Chicago Med Season 2 Episode 18 was touching, to be sure, but I was more interested in what it revealed about his core characteristics, his psyche.
I'm not saying he didn't care about Dr. Rowan; he clearly did. But the extreme measures he was taking to save her life were another example of how Will isn't good at letting go.
Even if the other person has no desire to be held onto. In fact, maybe especially then.
Some of this could be due to his mother's death and the guilt we've been led to believe he carries about that. We haven't seen him act this way with male patients, colleagues, friends, or family, so mommy issues are a strong possibility.
The more we learn about him, the less inclined I am to write him off as a narcissistic, borderline misogynist who resents others whenever things...

With President Trump’s proposed budget, independent film faces the proposed dissolution of the National Endowment for the Arts. This organization has been under attack before, but never as part of a sweeping repudiation of federal support for the arts, the humanities, and social services. IndieWire will continue to cover this developing story in the weeks ahead, but for now here’s a list (extracted from the Nea site) of all Nea independent-film recipients for 2017. In total, the organization funds around $2 million toward media arts organizations in the film space, but as we reported, the federal monies only tell a fraction of the story. For more on that, please read this.)

America, we need to quit sleeping on Dove Cameron—because the Disney star absolutely Crushed her live TV musical debut. The Liv and Maddie star played the villainous Amber Von Tussle, a.k.a. Tracy Turnblad's snobby, racist dance (and romantic) rival, in NBC's Hairspray Live. In the early number "Mama, I'm a Big Girl Now," Amber, Tracy (newcomer Maddie Baillio) and Tracy's Bff Penny (Ariana Grande) sing about the cruel reality of teenage life (they're not girls, but they're not yet women, you know?), and Dove certainly made her presence known. Don't kill us for saying this, Arianators, but she even managed to out-sing Grande. Listen, Ariana sounded great (and our bodies are...

I have to to say, I did not see that coming.
My money was on Mike to be the one to bite the dust on Code Black Season 2 Episode 4. Not that I was rooting for him to kick the bucket. It just seemed like the logical option.
But the writers really pulled the rug out from underneath me. And they didn't stop with the great dead doctor switcheroo of 2016. I felt for sure that Ethan would hold onto his secret for a little while longer, and that when he spilled his guts, it would be Leanne he would turn to.
I can't believe that we were so invested in Charlotte only to have her knocked off so quickly. I mean, if you're going to kill a character, it does make sense to take out somebody the audience is invested in, but seriously? It's only been four episodes.

Not that anyone's asking, here's what Caroline would love to see in The Vampire Diaries' final run...
After being dogged by rumours for months, it was finally confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con that season eight of The Vampire Diaries would be its last. It's had a great run, especially for an old-fashioned series that exists on a network now almost entirely devoted to DC superheroes, and the fandom feels ready to say goodbye.
But final seasons of long-running shows are tricky. Old ideas can ruin series that have evolved, and new ideas can seem thrown together without an eye on a show's history. Too many shows have gone out on a bad note, but there's every chance that The Vampire Diaries can sidestep some of those problems and finish at its best.
Here are my ten wishes for the show's final run:

"Top Gun 2," a sequel to Tom Cruise's 1986 hit, is now being written with what's been called "an amazing role" for Cruise as Maverick. Tommy boy is now 53, but he's still known for performing his own (extreme) stunts -- as in his new movie "Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation."

Well, we've officially found our favorite pun of 2015. Popular salad joint Sweetgreen has teamed up with Kendrick Lamar to create what has officially become our new favorite meal: a salad called "Beets Don't Kill My Vibe." Yes, you read that correctly. Sylvester Stallone has said that the Expendables franchise has dropped to a PG-13 rating in a bid to secure a wider audience.
The Expendables 3, which opens in cinemas from August 14, is the first in the series to carry the more family-friendly certification after the previous two instalments were branded R. In the UK, the first Expendables was classified 18, its sequel 15 and the third instalment is now 12A.
Speaking at the film's London press conference today (August 4), Stallone also suggested that The Expendables has toned down its violence in order to compete with rival action franchises.
"The idea with PG-13, we wanted to hit a broad audience and because of our predecessors, looking at the Bournes and James Bonds, we thought they're pretty violent films," Stallone said.

Full disclosure: I went into this video with high expectations. There are a lot of 'Hathahaters' still percolating over a year after her Oscar campaign and I desperately wanted Jimmy Fallon to inject some self-aware, self-deprecating humor into this bit to win Hathaway back some good will. Which he most likely succeeded in doing. She nails the singing and her comedic timing is spot on. But there was this uncomfortable sensation growing behind my eyes the longer the medley played. A tiny warning siren trying to get my attention. And then, about when 'Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe" started, it hit me. Oh noooooo, this was appropriation. White people, we need to talk. This is getting embarrassing for us as a whole. It's funny and sometimes poignant to take a popular song and change the genre. Less so when you ignore the cultural connotations of 'classing up rap' because then wow no.

Jimmy Fallon and Anne Hathaway gave a few familiar hits the old razzle-dazzle on The Tonight Show Tuesday night. Following in Fallon's "History of Rap" framework, the pair offered a medley of hip-hop tracks sung in a Broadway showtunes style, with Fallon at the piano.

"Hey Anne, what do you say we break them off a little something West Coast style?" Fallon suggested, before the two launched into Snoop Dogg's "Gin and Juice." Up...

In most situations it's super weird to say call out your haters. Rap music, however, is a safe space. Which is why, last night, on The Tonight Show, Anne Hathaway was able to call Hathahaters bitch-ass bitches while singing Broadway versions of rap songs. In the little revue of theirs, Haths and Jimmy Fallon performed "Gin and Juice," "In Da Club," and "Bitch, Don't Kill My Vibe." Guess which song the hater-hate happened in.

[Spoilers for Sherlock, up to S3 E1, and The Avengers, and possibly Marvel's Agents of Shield, follow]
We've had Why Sheldon is like Sherlock, and Why Marvel's Agents of Shield is like Dollhouse, so now here's, effectively, Why Coulson is like Sherlock. Admittedly, this article will be a little more tongue-in-cheek.
After all, one's on ABC and the other's on the BBC, so it's almost the same thing...
(Marvel's Agents of Super-smart, Highly Erudite, Really Long-winded Obsessive Consulting Kook? Okay, I just really, really wanted the initials to spell Sherlock.)
The big mystery of Marvel's Agents of Shield so far is when will Fitz get a brave monkey in live-action is there anything more awesome than a Melinda May how is Coulson back after dying in The Avengers?
And the big mystery of Sherlock so far is non-existent because 'mystery' is just a problem that Sherlock Holmes hasn't solved yet* why is Bilbo teaming up with Smaug to solve crimes and why does Middle Earth look like...

Don't want you to count 'em, but just note: some artists think their own jam is the jam of 2013. And why shouldn't they? HitFix caught up with a number of stars on the red carpet at the American Music Awards, including Akon, Fifth Harmony, Nelly, Kendrick Lamar, 2 Chainz, R. And Shemar Moore? He's a Drake man. Watch our quick-hitting video from the AMAs above...

To be certain, James Franco has never been lacking in ambition. From the meta quasi-doc "Francophrenia (Or Don't Kill Me, I Know Where the Baby Is)" to the Hart Crane biopic "The Broken Tower" to the kinky "Interior. Leather Bar." to the primate co-starring "The Ape," Franco has leapt into filmmaking, taking on challenges and narrative most other filmmakers wouldn't dare to attempt. And while there is something to admire in the ambition of the 35 year-old actor/writer/director's latest venture, "As I Lay Dying," it never amounts to much more than a curiosity. Requiring a decent knowledge of the source material (or at least a quick skim of the Wikipedia page) to fully grasp (and full disclosure, I haven't read the book), Franco's film almost plays out as William Faulkner's "Oregon Trail." The basic premise is pretty straightforward: following the death of matriarch Addie, the Bundren family head to Jefferson,...

Kendrick Lamar sent the rap salvo of the year earlier in August when his verse on "Control" scorched all of his competition, and he celebrated his continuing rise to the top of the new generation of rap stars at Jay Z's Made in America festival in Philadelphia. Performing with a full band on Sunday, Lamar worked his way through hits like "M.A.A.D City," "F--kin' Problems," "B--ch, Don't Kill My Vibe," "Money Trees," and "Backseat Freestyle." Take a look below and let us know what you think in the comments.

Nashville, Tenn. — It's been almost a year since Kendrick Lamar released his major label debut, yet the rapper remains very much the focus of the music world as top stars convene for the MTV Awards this weekend.
That album, "good kid, m.A.A.d. city," is about to turn platinum, his diverse menagerie of memorable songs ("B----, Don't Kill My Vibe," "Swimming Pools (Drank)," "Poetic Justice") would fit nicely on any mix tape commemorating 2013, and he's left visible marks as he's made guest appearances on nearly every top rapper's album over the last 18 months.
This month, he called out basically every Mc of the day in another memorable, fiery feature on Big Sean's "Control." Already hyped as the rap verse of the year, reaction was widespread and diverse. Some of his fellow MCs responded with verses of their own. Others praised him for throwing down the gauntlet and making rap competitive again.

1984 wasn't all red sashes and Big Brother. Let's take a look back at Madonna, Prince and the other cultural landmarks of the year:
1. Michael Jackson stars in a Pepsi commercial with a young Alfonso Ribeiro -- yes, that is Carlton from "The Fresh Prince."
2. Frankie Goes To Hollywood tells the world to "Relax."
3. Sally Field stars in "Places in the Heart," wins an Oscar and realizes "You really like me!"
4. The first ever Turner Prize is awarded to Malcolm Morley.
5. Madge writhes around in a wedding dress at the MTV Video Music Awards while performing "Like A Virgin."
6. "Clydesdale" was slang for an All-American boy.
7. Who you gonna call? "Ghostbusters" is the year's top grossing film.
8. All hail Prince -- now on Twitter -- and the gift to planet Earth that is "Purple Rain."
9. Betsey Johnson goes in a strange Egyptian feline direction for her Spring show.

A school in Florida recently announced that it will host a week-long summer camp that will have a "Hunger Games" theme. Many immediately considered that inappropriate, since "The Hunger Games" books and movie depict a girl who is forced to fight against other teenagers in battles to the death. The school quickly filled all 26 slots, but organizers were soon surprised about the expectations of the children attending the camp. Many of the kids thought that this would be a real-life "Hunger Games" tournament, with one kid revealing: "If I have to die, I want to die by an arrow. Don't kill me with a sword. I'd rather be shot." A psychologist specializing in children's issues, described the camp as "unthinkable," stating that the kids who read the books and watched the movie may actually look forward to killing. "When they start thinking and owning and adopting and assuming the roles,...

As the proliferation of the street drug molly explodes across hip-hop, Kendrick Lamar is one of the few rappers who have spoken out against the phenomenon. After including an anti-molly message in his latest video, for "B—, Don't Kill My Vibe," Lamar sat down with MTV News and lambasted the members of the hip-hop community whose fascinations with the drug -- a common form of Mdma -- are widely known.
"Sometimes you have the trends that's not that cool," Kendrick explained to MTV News after his recent performance at the Hangout Festival in Gulf Shores, Ala. "You may have certain artists portraying these trends and don't really have that lifestyle, and then it gives off the wrong thing. And it becomes kinda corny after a while."
Lamar didn't pinpoint any particular hip-hop names during his comments, but the list of options is plentiful. Last year, Complex compiled a history of molly in rap music,...

Kendrick Lamar can turn any occasion into a party. The new video for the rapper's low-key, but irresistibly catchy, "B*tch Don't Kill My Vibe" even puts the "Fun" back into "funeral." With pals Juicy J, Schoolboy Q, and Mike Epps in tow, Lamar attends an all-white wake before embarking on a funeral convoy that features girls, champagne and music. At other points in the clip, he performs all alone in a sun-lit field (is he the one being mourned?). Lamar even gets baptized in a pool full of liquor, recalling his first hit "Swimming Pools (Dive"), with its lyrics "I got...

Jay-z's musical tribute to Beyonce on Kendrick Lamar's new track isn't exactly a Shakespearean sonnet, but that doesn't mean it isn't romantic. It's been a big week for the Carters -- but, to be honest, when is it not?

First heard at South By Southwest, the remix to "B-tch Don't Kill My Vibe" was released in full this week. The track has Jay-z celebrating his successes and referencing his and Beyonce's very public friendship with the Obamas.

Best known for horror sequels, she has radically reinvented herself in her latest role: an alcoholic teacher who vomits in class

The preorder map, which was hyped in trailers like the one above as well as most of the advanced marketing for the shooter has been pulled from most of the game's playlists. Game director David Vonderhaar announced the move via Twitter today after the conclusion of the game's double Xp weekend, saying "That means Nuketown 2025 / 24-7 is as well. I know. Right? Vonderhaar continued that the map would return for special events and reminded gamers that it would be available in custom games. Vonderhaar later told a follower that the maps could make a permanent return, but that Treyarch was discussing this internally.

It was clear by the end of the summer that Lady Gaga and rapper Kendrick Lamar were gonna be friends. However, their collaborations in the studio on his stunning "good kid m.A.A.d. city" have never surfaced, until now. Gaga has "leaked" her own unreleased contribution on his song "B*tch Don't Kill My Vibe," a track that ultimately landed on the set but with Lamar himself speak-singing the hook. Her version makes the chorus a much more feminine and purposefully hooky feel, with the subject matter folling right in line with the Gaga we knwo and love: "I am a sinner who's...

Over the summer, music blogs (and Lady Gaga's own Twitter) were buzzing with the rumor that Gaga would feature on Kendrick Lamar's already much-anticipated debut album, Good Kid, m.A.A.d. City. Then (for reasons that will probably become clear once you hear the cut) the collaboration was called off, everyone lost their minds over Gkmc, and the promise of a Kendrick-Gaga experiment — which was kind of a "sure, whatever" idea anyway — was totally forgotten. Except by Lady Gaga, of course, who took it upon herself to make a collab version of "Bitch, Don't Kill My Vibe" and release it last night on Twitter. The title is self-fulfilling, though that is maybe not all Gaga's fault; she doesn't sound bad, exactly. Just extraneous.
