The movie tries to be too funny and fails.
caracho20 February 2002
I just saw this movie at a surprise preview, too. Everyone got a free beer, and this was really necessary to make me stay for the whole movie. The movie had a good start though, but after a while it surely got out of hands. The movie tried to be "more than funny" and thus failed miserably.

The best thing about it was the "stolen" guitar-jingle from the Bill & Ted movies (which I still like very much). But other than that, this "buddy-movie" didn't even come close to the Bill & Ted humor. I wonder how such respected actors like Christoph M. Orth (who plays the "Bond-like" villain in this movie) got involved with this.

I noticed that in several scenes, one take had trees with much snow on them, the next take had totally green trees, then they were snowy again. It seems that the producers didn't really pay much attention to such details.

The end credits featured numerous outtakes, and it looked like all the actor really had a lot of fun during production. Most certainly they had more fun making the movie than the audience will have watching it.

Story pretty stupid, comedy bearable

Warning: Spoilers
"Feuer, Eis & Dosenbier" is a German film from almost 15 years ago starring Rick Kavanian, Axel Stein, Christoph M. Ohrt and Eva Habermann. If you are German, you are probably still somewhat familiar with these names as they have starred in many known projects or are still doing so today. Hopefully though you are not familiar with Andreas Elsholz and Torsten Feller anymore as these two are pretty bad actors and their parts in this film say it all pretty much. The movie was written and directed by Mathias Dinter and runs for 75 minutes only without credits. And this runtime is certainly among the most positive aspects I can mention here. Had the movie made it to the 90-minute mark, it probably would have dragged even more, included more unfunny jokes and weak performances, so luckily this one was over pretty quickly.

This film can really only be enjoyed as a guilty pleasure, if at all. The best moments here are when the movie does not take itself seriously at all and goes for pointless goofball comedy. The worst moments are when it tries to be somewhat relevant with the friendship between the two protagonists allegedly in danger. Eva Habermann was pretty unbearable as well. The dog was maybe the best watch in the entire movie. It spoofs quite a few other films, mostly James Bond with many references thrown in between Orth's character and Blofeld. For Axel Stein, films like these are the major reason why it is still difficult today, over a decade later, to take him seriously as an established and talented actor. He is no such thing in my opinion. He obviously tried his best to get away from the image he got from these films, but people won't forget so quickly. Even his weight loss (Jonah Hill, anyone?) does not cut the cake. So yeah, this film is sometimes close to a */*****, but I will be generous with my **/***** and consider the moments (even if it weren't that many) during which this film made me smile. Still, I absolutely cannot recommend it. Do not judge German comedy from this film and its protagonists. It can be a lot better than what you see in here. Thumbs down.

NOT worth watching

Warning: Spoilers
That has to be the one of the worst movies i've ever seen.

The humour used here is the humour a certain type of people might find funny, but it's so flat that i can't find words to describe it.

*SPOILERs*

The beginning isn't actually that bad, it started out, considering the skills of those actors, quite well. But as soon as they arrive in that ski-resort, it gets worse every minute.

The saddest thing must be the scene where the granddad swallows the bomb..

*/SPOILERs*

NOT worth watching!

One of the worst
asyx18 February 2002
I happened to see this movie as a surprise preview and immediately regretted it: it was a total waste of time and money. This action-"comedy" features a kind of low-level humor that not even the Farrelly brothers can come close to. Story and characters are ridiculous and cliché-ridden to the hilt, so the only way to make it through the film (if you really have to) is following the saying "When in Rome, do as the Romans do": getting properly drunk before.

Unbearable
ken-ji6 February 2005
I happened to tune into a channel showing this film, and although realizing immediately that this was an enormously bad movie, I was curious how bad it was actually going to get. It surpassed my worst expectations! This is an example of "comedy" at its very bottom. The actors (featuring Axel Stein, Rick Kavanian, Eva Habermann among others) are dreadful, the jokes are crude and may only be funny to infants. I am wondering how this movie was able to reach an average rating of 3... Probably the worst movie I have ever seen.

Avoid at all costs! You'd regret it otherwise.

No better Trash-FLick has ever come from Germany
wutscher08151 September 2005
Warning: Spoilers
It Starts off as a half-hearted buddy comedy but turns into trash extravganza as soon as the two protagonists arrive in Ischgl (what an impact this name must have on a German, especially when spelled out by a local, i can only imagine). Not even the four parts of the hilarious "Piefke-Saga" draws such a ridiculous picture of Austria and ski tourism. The heart of the comedy is ex-softpornstar, entertainer for senior citiziens, local green politician and whatsoever Herbert Fuchs as Öhi, not even able to pull of a proper accent with lines like "now a blowjob and I'm in heaven" or "the self-made bombs always tasted much better". You won't find any joke in this movie that is intelligent, but if you like political incorrectness, stupidity and just a plain freakshow in a movie, check this out, just to see the end of the villain, which is campy humor at its best

good look
silversurfer-30005 March 2002
You´re right, its low level teenager humour, relaying on some good american buddy comedys, and it seems as if there wasn´t much money for special effects, but on the other hand it has a very good look and design for a "cheap" german comedy
