I grow old. So should my childhood heroes. That's the sharp-witted sentiment behind "Captain Sturdy," an animated satire of the superhero genre.
When I was a kid, I spent half my time reading comics and half my time fantisizing what it would be like to actually be one of the characters whose adventures I followed. But the years passed, life delivered a strong dose of reality, and I kind of forgot about all my favorite superguys. Until I saw Captain Sturdy.
Above all I love the premise: Captain Sturdy is Captain America with jowls and a bad back; Supermiddleagedman! Considering it's brevity, the cartoon is packed wall-to-wall with hilarious stuff. And while it's all pretty goofily entertaining, there's some surprisingly sophisticated humor here, too.
