one of the best films ever made

This is a wonderful, deeply moving film with an astonishing early performance from Joe Mantegna as a mentally challenged individual who proves himself to his doubtful uncle. Great music, superb cinematography, wonderfully written, an outstanding display of filmmaking.

This film really missed my old days in 1975. I was only 8 years old. My family came down there Pier 49 during those year. People views with special needs different than today. Great job acting in the film. Very inspirational. Thumbs up!

Per Steven Elkins, writer/director, the bridge tender was played by Al Lamb, the actual bridge tender.
