CANNES -- The regional public broadcasters that make up Germany's ARD network came home with more awards than any other channel at Germany's Emmys, the German TV Prize, but it was commercial competitor Sat.1 that took the two top statuettes for best TV movie and best series. The awards, Germany's top television honors, were announced at a ceremony in Cologne Saturday. The Dance With the Devil, a Sat.1 co-production with Berlin-based teamWorx on the 1970s real-life kidnapping of millionaire heir Richard Oetker, beat out pubcaster competition to take the top award for best TV movie. Sat.1 legal sitcom "Edel & Starck" took home best series honors and best actor in a series award for star Christoph M. Ohrt. The Berlin-based channel, part of the now insolvent KirchGroup, also snatched awards for best comedy (Ladykracher with Anke Engelke) and best daily show (Judge Barbara Salesch).
