I really loves "Making Off" in general way because many secrets was revealed and how the movie was developed, anyway the producers had to convince Dustin Hoffman because this movie was wrote for him only, but he was getting divorce at this time, so very difficult to him acting the same painful situation, about Meryl Streep when she break up your relationship with John Cazale (Meryl what did you see in this UGLY guy???) and so many interviews from the actors and interesting revelations as Jane Alexander who was surprised the won a Oscar and an older Justin Henry who was the last choice to the role.

This documentary thankfully doesn't get stuck in a plot re-hash of the film. It includes some funny comments from Meryl Streep regarding Dustin Hoffman's antagonism towards her, which Hoffman rationalises as acting out as a consequence of the divorce he was living through when he was offered the role. She also tells an anecdote about Woody Allen directing her in Manhattan which she was also shooting at the same time - "There's a comma in the sentence for a reason". Hoffman's method of improvisation and the boundaries set by director Robert Benton hint at Hoffman's reputation at being "difficult", and it is revealed that he declined Benton's offer for a co-writer screenplay credit, which would have won him another Academy Award. You also get to see the grown-up Justin Henry.
