The year in music keeps heating up. Following new albums from the likes of Beyonce, Ariana Grande, Vampire Weekend and Taylor Swift, now Billie Eilish is throwing her hat back in the ring with her third studio album. She has announced that “Hit Me Hard and Soft” will be released on May 17. Watch the mysterious announcement video above.
Her first album made history. 2019’s “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?” was the number-one album of the year on the Billboard 200. Then it swept the Grammys in 2020, claiming Album of the Year, Record and Song of the Year (both for “Bad Guy”) and Best New Artist. That made Eilish the youngest Album of the Year winner in history at just 18 years old. She also became the third artist to win all four of those categories, following Christopher Cross and Adele, and she was just the second artist to...

Billie Eilish is calling out artists who are not mindful of the environmental impact they are having by selling multiple vinyl variants to boost their album sales.
The Oscar winner has been conscious about using 100% recycled black vinyl for copies of her Happier Than Ever album, using recycled scraps for colored variants, and having each record enclosed in a shrink-wrap made of sugarcane.
“We live in this day and age where, for some reason, it’s very important to some artists to make all sorts of different vinyl and packaging … which ups the sales and ups the numbers and gets them more money and gets them more…,” Eilish said in an interview with Billboard about sustainability.
Eilish’s mother, Maggie Baird, added, “Well, it counts toward No. 1 albums.”
The “Bad Guy” creator continued, “I can’t even express to you how wasteful it is. It is right in front of...

At the last Grammy Awards, Taylor Swift made history by taking home a fourth Album of the Year trophy. In doing so, she became the recording artist with the most wins in the category ever, breaking her tie with Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder, and Paul Simon. Such an impressive feat is unlikely to be repeated anytime soon, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t other records that could be broken in the general field in the foreseeable future.

Billie Eilish was almost cast in new horror movie 'Azrael'.The 'Bad Guy' hitmaker is yet to make her debut in a feature length film, but 'Azrael' director E.L. Katz has revealed how one of the main characters was created with the 22-year-old pop star in mind. She told Collider: "So, Azrael, [Simon Barrett] wrote that in what felt like two weeks or three weeks or something."It was something I’d never read, even from him, and it was almost like all of his sensibilities distilled in this austere experiential thing with no fat at all."I loved it and I just wanted to see it get made. At first, Simon was going to direct it. I wanted that to happen. We wanted Billie Eilish to be in it, or something.”The movie stars Samara Weaving in the lead role, and she suspects Eilish...

One of the many mood-setting songs on the "Barbie" soundtrack was "What Was I Made For?" by Billie Eilish and her brother/co-writer Finneas O'Connell. Tonight at the 96th Academy Awards, the duo and their tune took home the Oscar for Best Original Song as Miss Eilish made Oscar history.
This is Eilish and O'Connell's second Oscar win; they previously won Best Original Song in 2022 for "No Time To Die," the anthem from the eponymous James Bond movie. With these two almost back-to-back wins, the 22-year-old Eilish is now the youngest two-time Oscar winner in history. I'd bet good money this year's golden statue won't be the last she'll display on her shelf.
Eilish is the latest musical goth it-girl of the moment, following in the footsteps of her cited influences like Avril Lavigne. Her whispery singing can be sad and/or creepy depending on what lyrics she's letting out.

Billie Eilish pulled on audience heartstrings while performing her hit song from the Barbie soundtrack, “What Was I Made For?” during the 2024 Oscars.
Wearing a Thom Browne tweed blazer and a long black skirt — similar to her red carpet look — Eilish sang the emotional lyrics as Finneas played the piano with an orchestra in the background.
Following the emotional rendition, the music duo got a standing ovation from the crowd, with screams from Barbie collaborators Kate McKinnon and Ariana Grande.

Billie Eilish is revealing the dream she had years ago that made her realize she needed to break up with her boyfriend at the time.
The Grammy-winning singer and her brother, Finneas O’Connell, were chatting with Amelia Dimoldenberg on Friday for an Oscars Nominees ‘Pre-Luncheon’ Luncheon when Eilish opened up about the memorable dream.
After Dimoldenberg asked the music duo if they wrote their 2016 hit song “Ocean Eyes” about Cillian Murphy, they both jokingly agreed that they “probably” did. O’Connell added, “I probably wrote it about Cillian, yeah. Big fan of Cillian’s eyes in Dunkirk.”
But Eilish quickly added, “Batman is the one, though.” Dimoldenberg followed up with, “Is that your favorite superhero?” to which the “Bad Guy” singer responded, “Yeah? I don’t really know much about superheroes,” but that she did like 2008’s The Dark Knight specifically.
That led the singer to then share she needed “to be real” for a moment.

HBO's ambitious sci-fi series "Westworld" took the cable channel by storm when the first season became one of its most-watched shows. There was palpable excitement each week for a new episode, and it felt like the hype actually came close to capturing the eager anticipation audiences once felt between new episodes of "Lost," complete with a variety of compelling mysteries driving the series.
Sadly, "Westworld" came to an unfortunate end with the show's fourth season. HBO canceled the series due to the show's high cost and diminishing returns, with viewership taking an extreme dip as the series continued. That's genuinely disappointing, because co-creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy had just one more season left to complete the story they originally conceived, and as of now, fans will never find out how it was all supposed to end.

Billie Eilish said that her song “Goldwing” was influenced by Olivia Rodrigo, a 20-year-old Gen Z musician. During the writing process, Eilish felt protective of Olivia, who was 20 years younger than her.
The song, which appears on Billie’s second studio album, Happier Than Ever, received seven Grammy Award nominations. Olivia Rodrigo, who released her debut album Sour at the age of 17, is under pressure to write her follow-up, Guts.
Despite the success of “Drivers Licence,” Guts received the Grammy Award for Best Pop Single. Rodrigo worked with producer Dan Nigro to compose music that was heard on the radio but did not achieve commercial success.
Because Olivia came from a different background, Eilish was apprehensive and concerned about her achievement. She also talked about her affection for Ariana Greenblatt, who plays America Ferrera‘s daughter in Barbie.

Echelon Studios has acquired award-winning feature films Address Unknown and Bad Guy from critically-acclaimed South Korean writer-director Kim Ki-Duk.
Two of the filmmaker's earlier works, both feature characteristically boundary-challenging shock elements. Address Unknown offers an uncompromising view of humanity and the dehumanizing effects of war, while Bad Guy tows the line between what is right and wrong with an unconventional and uncharacteristic tale of obsession.
Speaking on the acquisition, Sandro Gohoho, President of Licensing and Logistics for Echelon Studios, said: “Kim Ki-Duk is an unparalleled cinematic provocateur and among the most celebrated auteurs. We are very excited to have acquired two of his finest art-house works, continuing our commitment to bring inspiring and innovative cinema to those seeking it.”

A documentary extolling the virtues of regenerative agriculture, “Common Ground” gets its world premiere at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival, where it is also claiming a Human/Nature Award.
What is regenerative agriculture, you ask? It’s farming that forgoes tillage and chemicals in favor of cover crops and planned grazing – essentially, the practices of Indigenous peoples before the arrival of colonizers.
Industrialization post WWII popularized the use of machinery, pesticides and herbicides in agriculture as, per the film, suppliers of tanks and chemical weapons looked to pivot to a steadier business model. It goes on to explain the agrichemical industry’s overwhelming pull on politicians and researchers at land-grant universities.
Per Senator Cory Booker (D-n.J.), the public is paying multiple times: in subsidies, food assistance and Medicaid costs. Farm Bill provisions mandate what to grow. Farmers incur massive debt purchasing pesticides and the seeds genetically modified to withstand them.

Billie Eilish's birth chart has a very clear connection to her musical journey. In 2016, when Eilish was only 14 years old, she released her hauntingly beautiful single "Ocean Eyes" on SoundCloud, and it didn't take long for the superstar to become a major power player in the music industry. Since first breaking out, Eilish has completely redefined crossover genres with her hallmark ballads and raw, emotional lyrics, and she's got the accolades behind her to prove it.
The "Therefore I Am" singer has taken home more than half a dozen Grammys, all while garnering a loyal fanbase. But while Eilish may seem super open with her deep, honest lyrics, there are so many more layers to the Sagittarius. If you're curious to know what the cosmos say about Eilish, we've got you covered. Popsugar spoke with Cusp astrologer Isaiah Alpheratz, aka The Elysian Aquarius, for the celestial scoop on the singer's birth chart.

Taylor Swift has built a reputation — no pun intended — as one of the leading songwriters of her generation. That’s supported by her Grammy stats: she holds the record for the most Song of the Year nominations in history, tied at six with none other than Paul McCartney and Lionel Richie. She could break that record and stand alone with another nomination in 2024 for “Anti-Hero.”
Swift has been nominated for the following songs:
2010: “You Belong with Me”; lost to Beyonce‘s “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)”
2015: “Shake It Off”; lost to Sam Smith‘s “Stay with Me”
2016: “Blank Space” ; lost to Ed Sheeran‘s “Thinking Out Loud”
2020: “Lover”; lost to Billie Eilish‘s “Bad Guy”
2021: “Cardigan”; lost to H.E.R.‘s “I Can’t Breathe”
2023: “All Too Well”; lost to Bonnie Raitt‘s “Just Like That”
