Sex & Nudity

  • One of the characters named Cortana is an artificial intelligence that appears as a blue female humanoid during some cutscenes. She appears to be somewhat naked, but no intimate parts are shown.
  • Cortana is nude however as she is an AI all the actually nudity is covered and she doesn't appear naked.
  • In one of the first cutscenes Cortana remarks that master chief's anatomy is similar to the pillar of autumn. Master Chief then tells her "Don't get any funny ideas."

Violence & Gore

  • Shooting aliens causes colored blood to stain the environment.
  • Through out the campaign you will find dead bodies lying on the ground. Sometimes a pool of blood is shown surrounding them, nothing explicit.
  • Halo has always contained T rated violence however Halo CE and Halo 2 have been a bit edgier. Halo CE has over the top blood effects from human and alien bodies but none of it looks real or sprays from bodies in a realistic fashion. Also the flood aren't very disturbing or gruesome as the spray out light yellow blood or explode without any gore/blood. They're mostly like big mutated, bags nothing really that disturbing.
  • Even though shooting enemies makes them spurt blood, there is no dismemberment towards humans and aliens anywhere seen, with the exception of the flood.
  • Whole game is gun violence with some hand to hand combat. Unrealistic Blood is shown.
  • When an opponent is on the ground, the player can hit them, causing blue or purple blood to briefly spurt out of their body. If you blink you'll miss it.
  • The flood combat form enemies can be easily dismembered using firearms or explosives. Flood infection and carrier forms pop on death. No gore really the flood mostly shoot out yellow and green blood. Mostly crumble into dust when killed.
  • Humans and aliens alike are sometimes shown strewn on the battlefield a little blood.

Profanity

  • No f words used. Moderate PG-13 language throughout, Halo CE and Halo 2 contain the strongest language in the series however it's still mild and tame.
  • Ironic this game is rated M when it should be rated T because of the extreme mild language. The worst is shit, but most of the cuss words heard are either damn or hell. Maybe some bastards or asshole, but that's it
  • Halo CE and 2 contain the strongest language/vulgarity however it's still well within the PG-13 range. No F-words or worse heard.
  • It has mild profanity such as "damn" and "bastard" sometimes, and also rare usages of "sh*t".

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Some occasional smoking.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Both games are the same but one has enhanced graphics. When compared, the remake is less bloody. But because of the enhanced graphics blood is more detailed.
  • Some levels of the game can emit creepy vibes making any fight intense.
  • Battles can be intense especially on harder difficulties
  • This game is known to have over the top blood. Blood is often seen splattered everywhere after a fight. The remastered version tones it down a little bit, and the bloodshed is a little more realistic.
  • Probably the only Halo game to deserve the M rating however still nothing compared to most games of today.
  • The only Halo game that earns it's M rating.
  • The flood are far scarier, more disturbing and graphic in this game in comparison to Halo 2 and 3.
  • Rated R for some intense sci-fi violence.
  • intenns
  • The Flood creatures might frighten some younger players due to their zombie-like nature.
  • This is probably the only Halo game that actually deserves an M rating that being said it is still very much so a light M.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • There's a cut-scene where a group of soldiers are brutally killed by the flood. It's violent. In the Original it's not very bad and in the remake it's a little worse.
  • The master chief finds a captain who has been infected by the flood, he has to punch his fist into the mans head and grab a chip. Nothing explicit is shown other than green blood. In the remake we see a more graphic and detailed depiction of Keys head crushed in.
  • If you leave a man shooting you alive you hear a bang off screen then see his dead body afterwards implying suicide. This is easily the bleakest and most disturbing moment in the Halo games.
  • GORE
