The perils of polyester are something Nathan Fillion knows well. After spending a week donning synthetic clothing for Castle’s upcoming 70s-themed episode, he says, “Boy oh boy, give me cotton any day.”
“Polyester — not the most forgiving of fabrics,” adds Fillion, seen in these exclusive photos. “It’s hot; it doesn’t really breathe because you’re wearing plastic, essentially.”
Uncomfortable as it may have been, wearing the outfit was worth it to produce this fun hour of murder-solving TV, which finds the team channeling the past to solve a murder. “To see everybody dressed up is kind of fun.

There's nothing like a 100th episode to bring out the nostalgia and celebration in a television show. This is very clear for the 100th episode of "Castle," "The Lives of Others." In honor of the TV milestone, ABC has released four vintage-looking "Castle" posters that celebrate major episodes throughout the show's five-season run.
Of the four episodes celebrated by these posters, Season 2's "Wrapped Up in Death" (originally aired on April 5, 2010) is by far the earliest in "Castle" history.
This would be the episode in which a museum researcher dies under mysterious circumstances -- and it turns out that a curse might be to blame. Whoever looks at a mummy's face is doomed to die. Castle (Nathan Fillion) of course does just that.
Next up is "The Blue Butterfly," the Season 4 episode (aired Feb. 6, 2012) that transported the audience back to a film noir-style past. The story of an old murder...

Before watching another episode of "Castle," why not catch up with the show's favorite medical examiner, Dr. Lanie Parish (sorry, Dr. Perlmutter), played by Tamala Jones?
At the TCA winter press tour, Jones talked briefly to Zap2It about what's coming on "Castle," the Valentine's Day episode and whether we'll be seeing more of Lanie this spring.
Zap2It: What can you spill about what's coming up on "Castle" Season 5?
Tamala Jones: Currently, we're shooting the Valentine's Day episode. There's some possible action between Esposito and Lanie, I'll say that.
Zap2It: Always a good thing...
Tamala Jones: Always a good thing!
There's a big storyline coming up for Martha and Alexis. And I can't really reveal too much. But that's its name, "Focal Point." And as far as I know, that's all I know at this point. I don't know anything else! But it's good stuff. I...

Chicago – ABC’s hit show “Castle” has always done cool better than hot. What I mean is that the program works because of the smooth dialogue and sexual tension between its two highly underrated leads — Nathan Fillion & Stana Katic. Now that the lead characters have turned their cool flirting into hot sex, can the show survive the switch in tone? I hate to admit it, but the fifth-season premiere, airing tonight on ABC, gives one reason for concern.
Television Rating: 2.5/5.0
After four years of “will they or won’t they,” the writers of “Castle” took the plunge at the end of season four and finally got Richard Castle (Fillion) and Kate Beckett (Katic) in bed together. It came after a flurry of activity related to Beckett’s past and career, including her leaving the NYPD while a violent mystery man (Tahmoh Penikett from “Battlestar Galactica”) threatened to destroy the safety...

The Caskett kiss heard 'round the world wasn't the only explosive development in Castle's fourth season finale -- not only did Beckett and Esposito turn in their badges, but, to some degree, Ryan went against his fab foursome by towing the line.
So where will season five pick up? How long will the team stay disbanded? What's next for Castle & Beckett's burgeoning relationship? To get those answers, and more, I caught up with Seamus Dever, who plays Detective Kevin Ryan, and found out that while season five won't be as heavy as last year, it will still bring major drama!

Chad Everett Leaves Behind Memorable TV Legacy With Our Favorite Shows
It was very sad hearing that Chad Everett had passed away from cancer, and more than a little surprising. I don't keep up on the health of celebrities so this may not be news, but it turns out that Everett had been battling Lung Cancer for a year and a half. During that time Everett had filmed an episode of Castle, appearing as Jerry Maddox in "The Blue Butterfly", and 14 episodes of Chemistry. Yes, Chad really was that tough.
Everett had a ton of memorable screen time under his belt, but my personal favorite will always be his turn as Dean Winchester in the Supernatural episode "The Curious Case of Dean Winchester". Everett nailed the lingo and mannerisms of Jensen Ackles with memorable, and very funny, perfection.
His long running television career includes appearances in Maverick, Bronco, 77 Sunset Strip,...

The "Castle" panel at Paley Fest 2012 was light on scoop -- there are only so many times the cast and creator Andrew Marlowe can vaguely hint at Castle and Beckett hooking up without actually confirming one way or another -- but it definitely packed in its fair share of hilarious, quotable moments.
Tamala Jones, who plays medical examiner Lanie Parish, told the crowd that kissing Nathan Fillion in the film noir-inspired episode "The Blue Butterfly" was a highlight of her time on the show. No offense to onscreen ex Jon Huertas, though. "Your breath is fresh," she told him, but kissing Fillion was "like satin or something."
Speaking of Fillion, the actor said that he worried when sharing a scene with a tiger during "Cuffed." "I don't want my last words to be 'Oh God, oh God, I shouldn't have gotten this close to a tiger! It's eating my face!

Are you ready for the "last normal episode before the stormy weather hits," Castle fans?
That's how series creator Andrew Marlowe introduced the March 19 installment, "A Dance with Death," prior to screening it for all of us in attendance at the show's PaleyFest panel.
What can viewers expect from the episode, which focuses on the death of a reality show contestant? An admission by Beckett and some strippers, for starters.
But the theme of the evening, as you might expect, was Beckett and Castle and when the heck Caskett would actually come to fruition. Isn't it time for these two to get together?
"Yes!" exclaimed Stana Katic, as the crowd cheered, while Nathan Fillion painted his own picture of how he hopes these two will consummate their relationship, saying:
“I think it’s played out very well - it’s been tastefully and artfully dealt with - but I don...

Castle: 4.15 "Pandora" Review
I admit I started watching this episode with my foot out the door. Although the promos and sneak peeks had made it all seem so very exciting, I was still burned from last season’s two-parter, in which half of the fandom felt completely cheated by the Josh fiasco, myself included. So I tried to approach this episode with the same mentality as I did last week with “The Blue Butterfly” and tried as hard as I could to keep my expectations to a minimum. After all, I think we have all learned the hard way that it is better to pleasantly surprised than sorely disappointed, especially when it comes to Castle, right?
Well, I was worried for nothing. Maybe it was the fact that I went in with no expectations at all, but “Pandora” was good, guys. It was really, really good. I will even...

A gorgeous gangster's moll, a cursed diamond necklace and private eye's diary.

At the center of this week's Castle episode, "The Blue Butterfly," there was a necklace. It was a very sparkly and pretty necklace. People killed, gave up everything and even died to get their hands on it. Maybe it was cursed, but no one cares about that, do they?
Hopefully not. Because the good people at Castle are now auctioning off the Blue Butterfly necklace for charity.

Castle: 4.14 "The Blue Butterfly" Review
Well, if there was one thing that I have learned from “The Blue Butterfly” was that keeping my expectations to a minimum was the absolute best choice I could have made. You all know how I felt about the noir aspect of it and how I was expecting it to be a complete disaster (and I got a lot of backlash for that too), but for what it’s worth, I’ve learned my lesson.
It’s better to be pleasantly surprised than sorely disappointed.
In all honesty, “The Blue Butterfly” was not a bad episode. I wasn’t crazy about the noir scenes, even though the costumes and the setting were great. Maybe it’s just that I am not a big fan of the noir style, but the lines, the accents, those just didn’t work for me. That said, I really...

There are a handful of things that Castle does well. Even better, there are a few things that Castle does Really well. After watching "The Blue Butterfly”, we can now add nostalgia and flashbacks to the latter list.
When there is a series such as this - which sets the bar high with continuous entertaining hours of comedy, drama and romance - it is hard to have an episode exceed those expectations. It’s been done before, with the 3Xk tales and season finales, but this hour was different. It didn’t have your heart thumping, nor were you sitting on the edge of the couch - but it didn’t need any of that. What it did have was solid writing on a case perfect for Rick Castle.
Let’s just start by saying that Nathan Fillion is one of a kind. Fans have seem him in pretty much...

In the world of mystery-writer Richard Castle and Detective Kate Beckett, murder is an everyday occurrence that they take in stride. But things take a decidedly different turn in the upcoming episode “The Blue Butterfly” as the team investigates a double-homicide, one of which is decades old. Stepping into the shoes of the players of another era, the cast of Castle gets to dance through a time when blues, torch-singers, and gangsters were all the rage. It is a chance to playfully explore homicide on the lighter-side before tackling the darker-side once again as another serial killer places them in the crosshairs in the upcoming two-parter episodes “Pandora” and “Linchpin,” which air February 13th and 20th. Taking a few minutes to chat in an exclusive phone interview, co-star Tamala Jones, who plays medical examiner Dr. Lanie Parish, shared her insights on the fun they had bringing “The Blue Butterfly” episode to life,...

This week's "Castle" is going totally film noir. In "The Blue Butterfly," Castle and Beckett discover that the murder case they're investigating is linked to a homicide from 1947 involving a lot of mystery and a very tough private detective. They soon realize that they have to crack the old case to solve the new one, and we get to see them acting out the parts in some very cool flashbacks.
Yes, it's another chance to see Castle and Beckett hooking up onscreen, without them actually hooking up (oh, those smart "Castle" writers!), but if Castle's private eye guy is really the cream in Beckett's femme fatale character's coffee as she says, why is he kissing another woman?
Check out our fun first look at this stylishly cinematic episode.

The "Castle" gang travels back in time on Monday, Feb. 6 for the much-anticipated (by us, at least) film noir episode "The Blue Butterfly," in which the cast members get decked out in their 1940s best for some ultra-fun flashback scenes.
ABC has released the first 11 minutes of the episode (a new trend, it seems), giving us our first look at the actors' noir personalities in action. There is plenty of slicked-back hair and dapper suits, which is quite frankly not a bad thing (Nathan Fillion: yum), but we're absolutely obsessed with the ladies' wardrobe. Stana Katic's glamorous hairdo and fur stole steal the show, but Susan Sullivan, Molly Quinn and Tamala Jones are all giving her a run for her money.
It really says something that "Castle" has established its identity enough to have this episode feel completely natural and absolutely within the show's storytelling bounds instead of just a special sweeps ratings stunt.

Rick Castle as a hard-boiled detective in 1947? This shouldn't be hard for Castle fans to imagine, as it's the role our favorite fictional author has always dreamed of portraying.
And that's what he'll literally do on Monday's "The Blue Butterfly," as a case that involves a stolen treasure and a former cop's diary will take Castle and company back to 1947... in Castle's mind, that is.
Star Tamala Jones - in an interview that will go live on Monday - has labeled the installment her "favorite ever," and it's not hard to see why based on the following clips. We've posted Six sneak peeks, most of which focus on Castle's hilarious fantasy world, so sit back and enjoy now:

How different would things be if Castle was set in the 1940s? As seen in this scene from Monday's anticipated noir episode "The Blue Butterfly," exclusive to The Hollywood Reporter, it's clear the world would be significantly different -- but there's a twist, it's all coming from Castle's head. For one thing, Castle (Nathan Fillion) plays a hotshot private eye deep in a mystery that lures him to a beautiful femme fatale (Stana Katic), who turns out to be key in the investigation. Oh, Castle fans, I can feel your excitement right now. Although I have my concerns about this noir episode, I have to admit that I am starting to get a little bit excited about it. Why, you ask? The promotional photos look phenomenal. You guys are all aware about how unsure I am about "The Blue Butterfly" - and even though it looks awesome from the pictures, I am still not one hundred percent sold on the idea - but I am willing to give it the benefit of the doubt and hope for the best. I have to say the clothes look spectacular. Have you seen that fur number Stana Katic is rocking? It's gorgeous!
In case you're curious about what this highly anticipated (and by that, I mean fans counting the seconds to February 6) noir episode is all about, here's what we have...

Get ready for a whole new Castle look! When Castle and Beckett investigate the murder of a treasure hunter, they discover that the case is linked to a 1947 homicide. Castle, of course, wants to solve the present murder by solving that of the past. So we get a look at a hard-boiled detective (that would be Castle), a femme fatale (that would be Beckett), a shady businessman (guest star Mark Pellegrino), and a whole lot of film noir. "The Blue Butterfly" will air on Monday, February 6 at 10pm on ABC.

Pretty Little Liars | If there's one thing clear from the return of Pretty Little Liars, it's that the Liars are mad as hell and not going to take it anymore. According to series creator Marlene King's interview with The Insider, the winter premiere successfully "set the tone" for the rest of the season. "We really flipped things around and the girls are no longer victims. A's phone is going to provide them with a wealth of information to lead them on the hunt for A." Castle Spoiler: Stana Katic Talks About The Noir Episode
Ever since the scoop about Castle doing a noir episode was released, I have been on the fence about it. It wasn’t exactly a surprise if you think that the promotional cast photo for this season was noir themed, but I was still holding out hope they wouldn’t go down that path. And it was all for nothing because just a couple of months later the information that a noir episode was in the works came out and crushed my last hope. I may be in the minority here, but I really don’t like when my shows change that much. My other noir experience with a show I love was “Brown Betty” on Fringe and that episode was a total disaster for me.
That said, I was still on the “let’s wait and see” team about the...

Director Tim Burton saves the best 3D effect in his colorful but haphazard version of the children’s classic for the very last scene. Alice (Mia Wasikowska) is beginning her next, sequel-friendly adventure and a beautiful blue butterfly, the transformation of Wonderland’s Blue Caterpillar (voice of Alan Rickman), floats above her pretty face, off the screen and over the IMAX movie audience. The blue butterfly is a wonderful reminder how fun 3D technology has become with regards to family adventures like Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland”. It’s also significant that the film’s 3D qualities are debated before any discussions about performances, script and direction. Such is our era of 3D fantasy blockbusters where eye- popping sequences matter most of all. So audiences head to Burton’s Alice (and they did so in massive numbers this weekend) understanding that the film was originally shot in yesterday’s 2D...
